No Patience

7 posts in this topic

Hey, I am having a problem with patience. Whenever I meditate I feel the urge to check how much time is left 'till the meditation session is over (in the end I actually do check it, I can't resist it for long enough!). I was wondering if any of you have faced a problem like this or a similar one, and how you dealt with it.

Yep, I have experienced this. It's the feeling of, "I have other things to do!" or "This is boring."

Let that go. Set your timer and then forget about it.

Let go and just be. Don't worry about how much time has passed or is left. Anchor yourself in the present moment and just be.

You're welcome. Sorry, it wasn't something more, but there is nothing more to it. You just have to forget yourself and everything around you until you are snapped back at the sound of whatever you are using to time yourself.

Easier said than done, I know. :)

@mr lenny You gotta transcend TIME. Nothing will ever happen within time because that's just another aspect of "you". Your mind may be creating resistance by holding on to time (you), even though you may not realize the sneaky ways mind will hold it's ownership. Override that mind by transcending time, space, self/patience- and all those worldly confines. Do that and 30 minutes of meditation will seem like 5. You'll be amazed. Some days the mind just refuses to behave. When I realize that is happening, I "STOP" everything! Than put mind in it's proper perspective as "just mind", than move on. Usually that works. If not, approach meditation again when it feels right. The last thing you want is to experience frustration or impatience. That is the mind's way of winning over you by inducing a negative aspect into the practice.

was really interesting, I am currently practicing Working with Vanishing: Just Note Gone and the purpose there is breaking/transcending time and space.

Anyways, thanks for your time! ;)
