Mantra vs breath meditation (FOR FOCUS)

I have been wondering what has worked best for increased focus amongst people. I want to pick one practice for the next couple years but I do not know what the ideal practice for me is. I keep overthinking what the most ideal practice is. 

If anyone has experienced any improvements in their focus with either of these meditation practices please leave a response detailing what you did and how your concentration improved.
