Tibetan meditations

5 posts in this topic

I have not seen Tibetan forms of meditation discussed much on here at all.

I've heard a lot about Mahamudra, but it's similar to Kriya yoga in that its difficult to learn it yourself.

Does anyone have experience with Mahamudra? How does it compare to Kriya?

If you are taking Kriya yoga as Patanjali's then dhāraṇā can be somehow equated to Mahamudra's śamatha and dhyana to vipassanā. Though Mahamudra is a tantric teaching and much more than simply one-pointedness and meditation. Kriya yoga aims samadhi while Mahamudra aims nirvikalpa samadhi.

Bumping. I hear so much about tibean meditations from Ken Wilber and many others in spiritual communities. And always hear they have the most advanced mapping for consciousness.  But don't hear much about it here
