Stuck!

4 posts in this topic

Hey everyone!

I'm kinda happy to see everyone so engaged with the personal development work and this forum is a great mediun to keep you on track so a big thanks to leo!

I'm new to the personal development work, like it has only been 2 to 3 months. I know this thing takes time and I'm trying to be patient but i have all these negative thoughts coming again and again and again and again and its as if a strong force is pulling me back to my old self which i never in my life want to be again.

One of the skills I'm really trying to master is studying as I'm a high school student and i realise that studying plays a huge role in setting your foundation. I did watch Leo's videos related to this topic and they were very helpful to be honest but the actual problem which I'm facing is discipline. I mean i do set the time that no matter what, i'll sit at 5 in the evening and start studying but every time i end up delaying my routine.  My biggest distraction is television. That is one thing I'm finding really hard to get rid of. I've tried waking up early and studying in morning because I've realised that morning times are probably the best time for something like learning but every time i end up either snoozing the alarm or switching off my phone.

I'm really stuck and if you can help me out even in the smallest way, I'll be really grateful for that.

If you give us your house mates phone number, we can call them and convince them to throw the TV out the window? :D

Seriously now. Buy a paper TV program and circle what you want to watch and stick with that.

Start with 5 minutes meditation per day, but do it EVERY DAY> First build the consistency, then increase the time

@AylaAh! you have no idea how badly I want to throw the TV myself. And yea i'm kinda trying to do this meditation thing because I know its extremely helpful. The problem is i'll do my meditation for like2 to 3 days and then i'll probably have some work on the 4th day so i'll get busy in that and i'll have some other work and..you know the rest. but i know these are all excuses and that is the reason i'm trying hard and i know i WILL build the habit soon because i'm sorta enjoying this personal development work. It excites me :D and yea the paper TV program idea is really nice. i'll try it.

thanks for all the advice :D

@raghav

Start by doing the meditation. Ever before you go out of bed in the morning.

I personally call it: Cup of tea with God :)
