Is Self-Love still the "solution" even for those who lack fulfillment of basic needs?

So I've been learning more about the idea of self-love lately, and in Leo's video "Self-Love - The Highest Teaching In The Universe" he makes the claim, "Self-love is the solution to all of mankind's problems", something along those lines.

It makes sense to me, all issues that the ego experience, stem from a deeper issue which is the lack of self-love.

But when we bring "Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs" into this discussion, is self-love still the "solution", even for those who lack fulfillment of their basic needs? It seems more to me that self-love only becomes a priority when you've reached higher levels of consciousness, or when you've already satisfied your basic needs on the hierarchy.

Let's take criminals for example, sure we can say they lack self-love, there's no question about that. But at the same time they also lack basic needs such as money for food, water, and shelter so they go out and rob a convenience store. I would imagine that self-love is the last thing on their mind because what they need in the moment is money for their basic needs. So let's say this criminal embodied the idea of self-love, would that just make him not a criminal anymore? I would think so. But what about his desire to fulfill his basic needs?

Self-Love is a grand thing, it includes within it all material needs too.

If you have a material problem, like a broken leg, you must solve it at the material level, by getting a cast. And that IS Self-Love.

It is a mistake to try to solve all material problems at the spiritual level. If your child is hungry, give him food. And that is Love.

There is actually no help whatsoever, apart from self-love. Self-love is everything. Everything.

Yes self-love is the solution. Self love includes getting basic needs for self such as air food water shelter followed by security, relationships etc.
