Coronavirus Panic attack - Help please

17 posts in this topic

I received the news today that someone in my apartment has got infected with Covid-19. They live just a few floors down from me.

I'm absolutely terrified and I suddenly began to get panic attacks.

I just don't know what to do. Of course I'm locked up in my house. But the fear is overbearing.

What precautions must I take to not get Covid-19 and how should I deal with this situation?

I feel psychologically helpless.

Any advice is appreciated.

Take 6 deep breaths.

This is not deadly or even dangerous at all for your age.

A family member of mine had it and it's not as bad as it sounds.

Maybe get some vitamin d3 and zinc

They should be good to strengthen the immune system

Lol, rest assured that there are many others infected around you. You might have it as well. Just wash your hands, avoid touching your face, eat healthy, sleep well, avoid stress. Anxiety will weaken your immune system. I'm struggling with this too.

The panic will do more damage to your immune system than any virus. Fear cripples the immune response.

Start getting that Vitamin D back in place (as we talked about earlier) :) Eat well, sleep enough and don't forget to get in a bit of exercise, helps keep the immune system up.

Garlic, onions, oregano, thyme & mushrooms are all good immune boosters.

More of all wear a mask when you leave the flat and wash your hands regularly, don't touch surfaces in the building and don't touch your nose, eyes or mouth before you've washed your hands when coming from outside.

@Preety_India

Just do fasting it will raise your immune power. If ur new to fasting try Intermittent one and eat mucusless foods, green juices, fruits. Take care of your microbiome. Sleep well

I worked as a duty doctor in chennai covid ward. There is nothing to worry if you have healthy immune system.

People get sick because of preexisting medical condition, poor immune system,

Accept anything and everything. Getting the virus or not getting the virus. Getting tbe virus and having a mild disease or getting the virus and having a severe disease. Accept even getting the virus and dying from it. This the lesson here, acceptance.

Plus be realistic. You are most likely not getting the virus if you are not directly dealing with those people. And If even if you get it, it mostly will be a mild disease

It's important to follow the recommendations of health authorities. At least being stuck indoors is not an entirely bad thing in the internet age!

Just keep in mind that from a psychological perspective, we humans have a talent for fearing the wrong things! We fear terrorists who kill about 100 people per year, but not crappy diets that kill millions. There are countless examples of this. COVID is a sort of grey area, and does need to be dealt with responsibly. But this is an opportunity to focus on the mind itself and the issue of fear. Even the issue of death. That is when spirituality gets real.

Just now, Michael569 said:

why?

During the lockdown a few months ago, my apartment management had enforced a rule that no individual could leave the apartment more than once in a single day but I broke their rule and I went twice because I needed groceries. So they put a ban on whoever violated the lockdown rules.

So now im not allowed to walk outside my apartment. I'm only allowed to leave by permission with a letter to the management only once per week for a limited period of time of 15 minutes within which I have to complete groceries and pharmacy and be back home. This has been enforced for all residents who violated lockdown rules of the apartment.

@Preety_India OMG wow this is basically a Marshall Law. I'm so sorry to hear that. And I thought we have it bad here :o

But hey, it is what it is now so still super important to stay active. At least 30 minutes of day of aerobic activity of some sort will help you keep your mood up. All the best! Hope it won't last for too long

@Michael569  is Covid easily spread through air?

What I mean is that what if I'm far away from the infected person? Does that virus still survive in air.

I mostly won't be in direct contact around anyone because I'm locked in my house. But I still have this fear that covid spreads through air the way regular flu spreads.

I had read somewhere that covid spreads through droplets.

I happen to be going through a COVID infection right now.

The first days i felt a lot of body pains and aches but they lasted a couple of days, today i am way better (3-4 days of infection).

The best thing is to just try to be as present as possible, not let the ego-mind take over and practice deep acceptance.

That being said, i spend my last days as light as possible, watching a lot of stand-up comedy, sleeping, playing games and stuff like that.

No covid is not airborne, more people would be sick by now if it was, tens of millions probably. You are totally fine to live in the same building with other sick people don't worry. Just keep a 2-meter distance and follow the general guidelines.
