Why do Psychedelics Exist?

I've been wondering about this for a while... like, what is the purpose of psychedelics? Why do they exist? Why did the universe create them? Why are there chemicals on this earth that can make you realize your true nature? And why do they exist in so many types of plants and mushrooms, and even within ourselves? Are they a sort of key to Truth? 

And how is it that they actually have the potential to raise your consciousness?

You as God imagined it this way. You created all of reality from nothing. You created a 'human' life and the world you experience. Then you made yourself forget who you are, so you can experience being a human. If there was a goal to life, beyond experiencing it, is to reunify with yourself (infinity/infinite love). You created psychedelics as a way out of the illusion, or more precisely a way of remembering who you are. You added it to the dream as a way of awakening out of the dream. So you will awaken out of the dream you created when you are ready to do so.

To poster: All reasons come back to one thing which is love. You can create all reasons by trying to look for reason itself. It just is, however you are always creating when you look. cause happens before reason. reason is created because of cause.

It's rather prosaic. Chemicals exist, and your body is made of them. As are plants.

You might as well ask, why does food exist?

@QandC it is a game. You are the creator of the game, you are the every particle, path of the game and you are the game. You put hint into the game to see the shortcut to complete it. When you complete the game you realize psychedelics are you, these sentences are you.

Exactly the same way a chemical allows you to see, think, and move.

When you eat food and it allows you live, you sense no mystery. But when you take a mushroom and it changes your consciousness, you are surprised.

My awakening was proceeded by discovering poison nightshade growing wild on the grave of a clairvoyant herbal doctor. There were several other subtly strange experiences around his grave, and I thought that it was so strange and ironic to see nothing growing by his grave but a poisonous plant. So I read his book. It opened my eyes to the mystical intuitive side of the spirituality I was pursuing and more. 

How far down the rabbit hole do you want to go? There are entrances everywhere. Or none other but now.
