Pain in the upper part of the spine

3 posts in this topic

Since a truffle trip I am more aware of my spine (maybe also with kriya yoga)... I feel contraction in the upper part around the shoulder blades, contraction beyond usual tension in the shoulder muscles. I feel the energy in the spine and pain in the upper part.

Some other noteworthy things are that a vertebra in that region is misaligned since childhood and that I sit long hours for university study. Concerning the misalignment, I asked a physiotherapist, she answered that the misalignment wouldn't be a thing to be concerned about and that it would just be cosmetic to go into that. I changed the way I sit and am much more conscious of sitting straight up. Pain is still coming back when studying.

What do you see & suggest? Maybe just moving/walking around more while working?

Do you have a pullup bar somewhere around you? Try to hang on it every day in this pattern:

Hang for as long as you can -> 30 seconds break -> then jump back on and continue hanging (complete 3-4 sets like this)

No need to do pullups or contract your latissimus, let the ligaments & joints strain a little bit
