A Question About SD Yellow

11 posts in this topic

Is Systems Thinking something you have to learn deeply to embody Yellow or is it something that will naturally evolve as a novel way of thinking about life, as you grow?

Could you for example be a systemic thinker even though you havent heard about the concept?

Systems Thinking is too left-brained for me tbh, what if I never learn to care about it enough? Thanks

Stage Yellow is a breeze. Very fun. Just integrate knowledge about yourself and the way the world works and the different disparities between people with their stages of development. Think about the growth of the world and the series of events leading us into more love in this grand story. The scheme. The game and how to beat the game. Don't let the term "systems thinking" trick you into thinking it's some left-brained mathematical thing. It can be, but not necessarily.

Very interested in this as well. People like Sadhguru and Osho probably didn't study strange loops and paradoxes, yet must have passed through stage Yellow without the embodiment of Yellow knowledge.

I assume you shouldn't have to rely on external knowledge if you contemplate things on your own. But you also can't get stuck in your limited thinking, like Sadhguru's political views, maybe we need external influence to get out of those limitations.

Yeah, I mean I love perspectives and learning about all kinds of stuff, at different levels, recently Ive been getting into novel thinking and how to come up with fresh ideas about all sorts of collective problems, kind of inspired by the "requisite variety" blog video. Leos science videos also helped alot with that, its mindblowing to me that Ive never questioned science before I heard of Leo. xD

Thats where I get confused too, Tier 1 is very easy to understand but once we start talking about gurus in Tier 2 Im kind of scratching my head. I think most of the gurus we look up to are probably more likely Green rather than Turquoise except for a few like Shunyamurti, can you just skip Yellow because you are Awake... dono about that...

I'll have to watch the yellow episode again, it's my least-watched one, I've watched the others a bunch of times. I actually think most of these guru's are stage turquoise, but went through yellow without diving too deeply into it, yet implemented the important lessons of it. I'm not so sure yellow has so much to do with learning deep systems thinking instead of looking at things from a birds-eye view. I feel the will of studying it can deeply rely on your personality type, as you mentioned with the left-brained thinking.

Observing how orange and green for example behave, in a sense they're equally as wrong because they both assume one thing over another when reality is all-encompassing. It includes all aspects. Maybe this is getting into turquoise territory, but assume yellow is more about seeing both side's views and not judging either side.

I'd love some clarity on this as well.

Of course you don't necessarily have to call it "systems thinking". But some kind of awareness of systems is necessary I think. You have to start to see the world in terms of complex interlocking systems. You have to have some interest in systems because you recognize the importance they play in human life.

The health care system

The education system

The economic system

The business system

The media system

The energy system

Science as a system

Religion as a system

Culture as a system

The ecology of the planet

Etc.

You can't just avoid thinking about these things because you are embedded in them and they control you.

You'll care enough if:

You're tired of judging everyone that don't fit your narrow lifestyle, and want to understand how is that the case.

You start to understand that you almost understand nothing of how the world works, how shallow and simplistic your perspective is on it.

It's not about being enough left or right brained, even though I guess that's probably a factor that facilitates the transition.

The lack of clarity about what Systems Thinking really means, but I got it now.
