How come Being is not a Purpose?

9 posts in this topic

Leo has said that Being is not a purpose. But why is that?

And what would it take for something to have a purpose? I don't get it.. What is the explanation behind the no-purpose thing?

To me it seems that being is a purpose because it is. Because it exists. As i would say that the purpose behind eyes is seeing because that's what they do.

Consciousness is its own purpose. It is the dharma of dharmas. It expresses itself through creation. Consciousness manifests mini-dharmas to enjoy, like shadow puppets on a battlefield, delighting in playing peekaboo with itself. Ultimately, there is only Consciousness itself, manifesting itself in a multitude of forms, for eternity.

Just because God loves you doesn't mean it is going to shape the cosmos to suit you. God loves you so much that it will shape you to suit the cosmos.

Being = being. Being can do purposeful things, however purpose is not always being.

to have purpose would be a drive to do something. Like a pull to go live your dream life.
If you want you can do an exercise where you close you eyes and say “being” and then try again and say “purpose”. Feel the difference in energy. Being does not need purpose. Being doesn’t need anything. Purpose needs. I think that is the duality he was trying to explain.

:P I think I explained it well above, however I will give more clarification.
being is simply that which is. Purpose is like adding reasons on top of what is there.
that said, reason and purpose can be very valuable so don’t throw them away.

Being is a point.

Purpose is a circle.

Purpose is discriminatory, discrete, dividing, guiding. Being is.

Most of the times, a point is a circle, actually ;)

Ok. Being is simply what is.

But doesn't being have a purpose behind it? Doesn't being have a reason for being?

For example many spiritual people say that everything exists because God wants to experience itself. That is a purpose i guess.
