Finding The Least TOXIC Clothes

19 posts in this topic

I've been slowly chipping away at sources of toxins in my life. I was going to order some plain shirts, boxers, etc. Then I thought again I read in the toxin solution about clothes. I have been really working on chipping away at my toxin exposure and of course it seems like these have a bunch of bad stuff in them too.

I don't mind paying up if needed. I just want plain clothes though. Is anyone familiar with brands that actually show what dyes they use? I am assuming I want 100% cotton clothes?

I intend to update this thread with some findings I make on my own. I'd love to hear if anyone has any knowledge on this.

Not a lot of data has been gathered on this topic so far and we don't really know how much of this stuff is transdermal but generally:

* organic cotton, hemp, linen would be the best. As little colours as possible. When possible go for 100% (not mixed with polyester)
* anything containing polyester, or that sticks to your body (e.g. a lot of the Underarmour/Reebok functional clothing) may have chemicals that can sep through but I still like to use them for my outdoor workouts, just don't walk around in that stuff for 24 hours
* as a guy for example underwear is very important and you should wear the shorts as loose as possible as to not reduce circulation and increase temperature in testicular area (kills sperm count)
* for girls I think it is a terrible idea to walk around in the yoga pants all the time. Loose linen pants are ideal.

In my experience, it's good to try natural fibers but organic fabrics that I have tried seemed to shrink really fast and not be worth the investment.  I think it's a really good idea to wash things a couple few times before wearing it the first time though.

we are highly adaptable but there are consequences and sacrifices most are unknowingly making with the cultural choices, the more Intune we become with ourselves the greater power we hold over the material realm

I like “earth runners” sandals, with a copper grounding point, very breathable, freeing and releasing, rubber soles can be very disconnecting

I can’t stand wearing shoes for prolonged periods of time. We can actually balance ourselves out using grounding techniques and releasing negative emotion into the earth

bras are a big issue too, all the cells want to be able to breath, the skin is the largest eliminary organ for detoxing. When we trap acid, organ malfunctions and blockages occur, creating pain and chronic conditions. Mind influences body and body influences mind

I stick to Cotton but I’m no clothing expert, it’s cool to develop greater sensitivity to clothing and colors, how they can influence our energy. Also using clothes to play certain personas, everything related to intention, attention and beliefs. Its possible to transmute the positive and negative, to change chemistry and control personal vibration, as we are spirits living a human experience and not the other way around

Not a problem if you’re fearless, but be careful taking it to the extremes, it’s no accident we have all these godly statues around the world, what if they were once alive? xD

Forgive my ignorance, but isn't this a little extreme?

I mean the carbon-filled air you breathe daily is probably more toxic than a year of toxicity that comes from clothing.

Isn't this on such a minuscule scale there's no way to even notice the benefits from it.

Feel free to enlighten me on the matter.

@fridjonk Probably a bit more extreme to most, but I find enjoyment in researching and improving these things. A lot of these clothes does have cancer causing chemicals though. I considered the air and such as well. The main thing is reduction of the toxic chemicals. Eliminating them is impossible in the times we live in.

Also, with the air I recommend a high quality hepa filter in the room you use. You could see quite a bit of gains just from that.

@Rilles Gave me a good laugh this morning.

@mandyjw Yeah, this stuff looks super expensive. I am see $25 for one boxer right now lol. I guess part of the issue could be is washing it with the other clothes would probably just put the chemicals into this stuff too. Not sure how much ROI there is here, but I am sure I could find a sweet spot.

@fridjonk I think there is a natural progression to these things. If you think about it many of us on the forum are freaks. Taking cold showers, jogging at 5 am, meditating for 60 minutes, filtering waters, doing powerful breathing techniques, fasting, experimenting with herbs etc....this is not common for the majority of the population. So I think it makes sense that we take our freakish obsession even deeper and explore other areas that could be preventing us from becoming our most powerful self (as cringy as that sounds) and if there are some hidden corners worth looking into then why not ;) This, of course, assumes that first, we get the basic shit sorted such as having a stable routine and a normal diet, not being obese, lazy & having our finances handled.

@Michael569 Yeah, even on the sites I am seeing even if it is organic cotton for example it doesn't say anything about the dyes etc. Hard to justify paying 5X the price or more if it has the same stuff in it. The bits that I have got just looking into it seems like the traditional stuff is terrible for the environment.

I will keep the information your shared in mind while I sort through the options.

Lol, this is so true with this work. I wouldn't have cared at all about this stuff before, but each improvement I see something new I could do. I have spent a good deal of time looking into health, nutrition, etc and it has been very rewarding and fun. I've checked out most of the basics, but even with supplements, detox, etc it goes deeper and deeper.

Yeah, society could seriously tackle these types of things, but to be fair there is a lot of pressing issues that probably are on higher alert. Still though each thing put the rest going in a "better" direction.

I actually would get athletes foot a lot because I would wear shoes too much. I get new shoes every two months because running wears them down and change the socks enough now. I prefer slippers that have a shoe bottom for working on my business etc at home.

I never really considered the bras too. I can see the reason for and against them for sure. I am sure it causes plenty of issues. Could even be apart of breast cancer.

Yeah, I notice that with clothes they are so powerful. I wear blank clothes a lot of them time. I have this one jacket though that makes me feel more attractive to women lol. I mean it works, but I think a good portion of that is in my head haha.

Thanks! I'll look into that.

Yeah, I guess so, why not dive fully into it since we're in the depths already. xD

But I think there's a fine balance with these things as well. For example, I watched some Ben Greenfield not too long ago (careful, I may have summoned @LfcCharlie4 for mentioning thy name), and it was just exhausting tbh. Seems that dude dedicates his whole life to his body and it seems a bit extreme to me.

But I certainly don't disagree with you guys either.

A clear mind will always be the first priority.

@fridjonk

The unit I have, I find them a bit at garage sales and sell them usually. It's a filter queen. I am pretty impressed with it. Although, I have not researched the most optimal ones. Going used isn't bad since you can get a filter for it, but with some units the filter is almost the same price as just buying a whole set up.

Once I have something set in place I really don't need to research it a whole lot more. For example the air filter just needs a replacement once a year. It doesn't require much thought. Just that alone can eliminate stuff that could cause me to be sick for X amount of days a year. All of that that starts adding up. Or it could equate to me having X amount more energy than without it a day. The gain might seem small, but if you layer enough stuff on it starts adding up. I also have allergies to dust and it will nearly put me out of commission, so having something like this is absolutely amazing and I get a lot of benefits from it.

Diet, exercise, and supplements would see the biggest gains though. I've been working on this stuff for a few years. Nutrition alone and learning how to buy good food etc takes a lot of time. Not only that, but learning what gives you the best performance. So many in the world could live a happy life just from changing up a few things in their day.

https://www.amazon.com/Cottonique-Hypoallergenic-T-Shirt-Organic-Melange/dp/B00FALOYD8/ref=sr_1_28?dchild=1&keywords=organic%2Bcotton%2Bshirt&qid=1604542729&sr=8-28&th=1&psc=1

I managed to get a set of boxers from this company pretty cheap to try out. Was going to maybe give the shirt a try. $15 each is up there, but to be fair I bought this 5 pack of the same color shirts a few years ago and still use it, so not really that high of a cost if they can last awhile. Was going to order a size up.
