I just finished making some tea.

It looks really milky.

I guess I should have added more tea leaves.

Anyway. It tasted really good. Fresh feeling.

I like a lot of milk in my tea and coffee.

So I didn't have any spoon in the kitchen and the only spoon I had broke yesterday.

Looking to buy some kitchen utensils.

But I don't know what to call all these silly spoons.

One is called jhara or skimmer or frying spoon. Looks like this.

My mom uses this one. I'm yet to use this. It's rounded and it's called jhara.

4m6pwl.jpg

The other is called Turner

4m6q43.jpg

Some other is called Spatula. The only Spatula I knew was the one that I used in college in chemistry lab.

Now there is also a slotted Spatula and a solid one. Don't know which one to buy

So I got a pair of tongs to lift a Naan. Ting tong lololol.

4m6plp.jpg

A basting brush

4m6qop.jpg

A slotted turner

4m6qqy.jpg

My mom uses this type of turner. They call it dosa palta or Roti Naan palta

4m6qvs.jpg

Solid flipper turner. I use this a lot.

4m6qy9.jpg

I'm planning to buy a wooden set but not decided yet.

4m6r0p.jpg

Butter spoon or spreader.

4m6rxi.jpg

This is called a karchi or ladle, soup ladle

Good for lifting chunks

4m6xzk.jpg

This one is better for transferring curry. I don't have one.

4m6y12.jpg

My mom uses these

They are called rice spoons.

4m6y2i.jpg

Wooden rice porridge spoon is usually this shape.

4m6y40.jpg

Mixing spoons

I can use this as a stirrer.

Serving spoon or ladle

So finally

...... Phew.

After a lot of searching for hours I settled on this one and decided to buy this black spoon set that has all the spoons so I don't have buy them separately.

It was 64% off so good for me. Budget price.

Looks good. The color doesn't matter to me.

I'm collecting every possible material for my kitchen.

Will be getting a teapot.

I already have earthenware and melamine. I'm interested in stoneware. The heavy ones

Time to eat some hard boiled eggs.

Oooooh are they gonna break or what? These little eggs, testing them.

Last time one of these broke so bad, it was thin shelled.

They call them free range.

I'm trying to build my kitchen from scratch since I moved in.

And I'll be getting some stuff, only that which I can afford so I have to be careful.

This is not an easy task.

One thing that I'm very fond of is kitchen materials

I love collecting different materials and see how they work in the kitchen especially old materials. I like to imagine how people used to cook food in the old times and it's very fascinating to me

Of course these days everything is done by machines whether it's a chopper or air fryer or a microwave. But I miss the old times. I already have the microwave and the other new technology. But I want to try out the older ways of cooking food

What I found is that food cooked in older ways is way tastier than the one fast cooked in machines. The machines kinda leech off and squeeze out all the good juicy parts of the food leaving a dry desiccated flavor.

I have been using machines for so many years that's its boring to do that again. This time I thought I will try something new.

And since I'm a witch I can make my own concoctions and potions and brews in the kitchen. After all a witch gotta learn her sorcery in the kitchen. xD9_9

So I'm trying to learn more about cookware or kitchenware materials and it's really fascinates me so much.

Today I was browsing through some info and trying to learn the difference between stoneware, porcelain and bone china

Bone China is very commonly found in my country, it would be difficult to find porcelain.

And porcelain is kinda expensive. Even bone china is expensive.

So the first thing that I came across was stoneware.

And it seems it's the older way of making ceramic things. They heat the material to a really high temperature and then at that point they add some kind of clay to render a distinct glaze to it which is often found in stoneware vessels.

It has a natural mirror glaze and its tough to tell if a ceramic or earthenware is simply painted with glaze or varnish  or if the glaze is natural..

I have seen a lot of stoneware pieces in my mom's kitchen growing up. So I kind of have a clue how the glaze actually looks like.

A good example of a stoneware is this stoneware mug I bought recently to add to my frugal collection of kitchen vessels.

Notice the distinct glass like glaze both on the inside and the outside. A mirror finish. Often times ceramic wares do show a hint of glaze but it could be just the paint which usually wears off after regular use. Then it begins to look more matte or plasticy in appearance with a thin sheen on it. You know it then that you got fooled.

What did I do with my old kitchen?

I took all the stuff and kept it in the garage and placed an ad on the bulletin board of my apartment last week. A friendly old man responded to my ad and I sold him all the silverware and some chinaware at 70% discount. And I gave him some for free. I'm glad I gave it all away so I can start a fresh start from scratch. He was probably looking for something cheap and he quickly responded and he was kinda happy.

I moved into another block in the same apartment last week and it was hellish. Didn't sleep. I had to rearrange all the furniture. Lot of work.

I'm surprised that the old man was interested in buying my kitchenware despite the pandemic. I wasn't really hoping for someone to respond to my ad.

And now I'm slowly gathering a lot of new stuff for my kitchen. This will take some time.

I find it so relaxing to watch these videos on cleaning dirty grubby old kitchenware. I kinda feel satisfied that they were finally cleaned.

And quite a bit of tips on how to clean out all the gunk.

I really wanted to know how to clean some of the old pots I had kept.

I didn't sell everything, maybe like 90% of it but I still have some of the old kitchen stuff like a few old plates and pans and a few silverware and china.

These videos have some good cleaning tips.

This guy uses Coca-Cola lol

This video below was like using the entire kitchen to clean a teapot. xD

This one was nice. So much gunk on the pot though.

Nice trick of the fabric sheet.

This one of the best. Thanks lady.
