The problem with radical open-mindedness

Or going insane.

You can't "just be" when your ego-mind/identity is threatened. It will not let you be. It will cause you all kinds of disturbances to distract you from "just being". Otherwise, it will die. But that's the last thing it wants.

Insanity is the opposite of enlightenment. It is complete identification with the conditioned mind. Most humans are insane.

You will only just be when you are ready to just be. When you wake up, you recognize the kama that ego uses to lure you back into the labyrinth of the conditioned mind. You see the lies for what they are, and they have no power over you. Unfortunately, waking up isn't a one time event. I'm still in slumber a good part of the time. At least now it feels like lucid dreaming :)

Just because God loves you doesn't mean it is going to shape the cosmos to suit you. God loves you so much that it will shape you to suit the cosmos.

It creates all kinds of stories about how bad things will get... don't listen.

Stop feeding it ..Starve it to death.

It will re-inflate over and over again for a while... but just like a balloon that got re-inflated too many times, it gets weak and eventually no longer holds air.

Exactly kind of like this.... but don't worry the ego doesn't turn into an owl :o

It's real and unreal.

Real in the sense that its experienced that a separate individual suffers.

Unreal in the sense that the suffer isn't actually there. So its actually a misidentification with thinking and bodily senses.

The suffer is the body.

Do you suffer at the doctor's office when under anesthesia?

Does someone in a state of unconsciousness suffer?... like being a vegetable or in a coma

It's so simple, isn't it? Concepts are only a distraction. Just be.

Indeed...but...you know...apparently....and we’re off on another story! xD

“Body” is a thought. A body is never actually perceived or felt.

Like other thoughts, “air”, “birth”, etc, it does not have to be believed.

You can notice this by noticing the phrasing we use to cover this up, like “taking a pee”.  Obviously no one goes in the bathroom and takes a pee. Sounds silly at first, then existential / introspective...then extremely silly.

No obviously. But I'm talking about when the body is alert.

It’s something I had realized as well. Though I would’ve said “the body is an experience.” It’s not actually perceived or felt because nothing is actual, only apparent. No basis or substance. Only what seems to appear. And that’s everything.

@Someone here

Never.

Allegedly I was when I was some body.

Woke folk have written of this you know.

Who Did You Think I Was?

I got half a smile and zero shame
I got a reflection with a different name
Got a brand new blues I can't explain
Who did you think I was

Every mornin when the day begins
I make up my mind but change it back again
I'm a shifter of the shape I'm in
Who did you think I was

You got my number but I always knew the score
Who did you think I was

Am I the one who plays the quiet songs
Is He the one who turns the ladies on
Will I keep shinin til my light is gone?
Who did you think I was

You got my number but I always knew the score
Who did you think I was

Here is a line that you won't understand
I'm half of the boy but twice the man
Carry the weight of the world in the palm of my hand
Who did you think I was

John Mayer

There is half truth in that.

Denying the existence of something should imply at least an appearance of that thing that is being denied.. Otherwise wtf are you denying in the first place?  . How does the body relate to your identity is a deep and complicated topic. I don't believe you are the body ultimately. But in any case there is a body here.

There seems to be a body. There seems to be a here. If it seems to be real as well, that’s also just what’s apparently happening. Nobody knows it’s actually happening, or even that it’s apparently happening. It just apparently happens.

No obviously. But I'm talking about when the body is alert.

So there's a direct correlation between an alert conscious mind and suffering.

But when there's a thought about making a delicious sandwich for lunch or giving my son a hug, suffering isn't occurring then right?

So what is it about the conscious alert mind that causes suffering?

Pain! Consciousness can experience pain and that is called suffering!

Pain is the result of damage to the body or mind, and cannot usually be avoided.

Suffering is self-inflicted damage from being unwilling to accept the isness of the Now. It's only necessary until you realize that it is unnecessary.
