Who Is The Voice??

6 posts in this topic

Leo in one of his recent videos 'how to get enlightened' addressed a 'voice' one which appears and evidently seems to conflict with the opinions of reality. Whilst working today I was confronted by the voice continuously as it was trying to make me procrastinate and do others tasks etc. But that made me wonder what is the voice? Is it the Ego? Is it my brain thinking? Is it my lower half, e.g. the bad side of me?

Any Ideas?

@Aamir King, Your desires are conflicting, between procrastination and doing what ought to be done.

It's not healthy to describe this voice with a malevolent label. It  seems to me, nothing but a longing for rest or pleasure, not necessarily "the bad side" of you. Investigate further, why do you have this urge to resist work?

You will probably realise it's an itch to be stimulated by a fun activity, compared to the dull process of completing tasks. ¬¬

@The Obedient Listner Ah ok, thanks for the insight. But I also partly have my life purpose making both activities fun, but making me still want to be lazy and play games.

The voice stems from thought. The voice is present because you understand a language, which is capable of verbalizing your inner feelings and thoughts to a form that seems tangible. The dangerous thing about the voice is that it doesn't always correctly interpret stimulation and how you're feeling, and yet you feel so connected to the voice, it feels like you, and that it's "right". If you lived as an ancient human, before language was invented, you would have no voice in your head materializing your thoughts.

Don't think too much about it. ;)

@Frogfucius, I have to admit. That was eye-opening, the fact that language doesn't deliver the precise condition of your body. Including feelings and needs. Verbalising your present situation can lead to an invalid interpretation, hence it's an incorrect resemblance of you.

Mr.Sage & Wise Toad :P, I've learned today from you, that my inner voice can be unmistakably described as ignorant. Appreciate your input. :D
