Will things get scary towards the end?

11 posts in this topic

I'm going to much more heavily unplug myself from stimulation and incease my strong determination sits until my mind gives up and surrenders to the boredom. I'm distancing myself as much as possible from loved ones so the mind has nothing to latch on to and I become an empty shell, I can already see how increasing this elimates a lot of your life story if you are not distracting yourself with entertainment. Will I become fearful towards the end as I purge more aspects of my self identity? I know on 5 meo the first few times I had a lot of fear , but that was immediately brought upon me, strong determination sits , self inquiry and deplugging from stimulation however is a much more long drawn out process, where you are creeping towards the event horizon instead of racing on 5 meo, just wondered how it compared.

Personally I think this part of the path (the inward path as Rupert Spira calls it) is very necessary to help you realise your true being & your true nature, and begin to rest as that.

BUT, remember spirituality isn’t about starving yourself of life, instead it’s about truly enjoying & embracing your life.

So, you say about distancing yourself from loved ones, just be careful with that that you don’t become a plank of wood in the name of spirituality, remember to embrace and integrate infinite love into your practice and use this in your life & your relationships, you will gradually become more loving & intimate not less.

Remember, awakening & abiding as what you truly are doesn’t mean you’re no longer human & have no individuality, in fact it’s the opposite you liberate yourself from the tyranny of the seperate self, and can finally be YOU without any restriction & you become MORE human, and more authentically you than ever before.

I understand why you want to do this, and building discipline is key in any area of life, but be careful not to make spirituality into a suffering contest for yourself, you will hey much further lovingly inquiring and questioning who you are followed by abiding in that silence & resting as you are.

Remebevr to enjoy life!

@LfcCharlie4 I agree! Do you basically always have inner silence? And when you do things it's from your intuition/instinct/feeling instead of the mind/thoughts? My teacher is helping us get to that state of being, he says at some point we will get there and there will be no going back, so I want to learn more about it :) What is your opinion about thoughts?

@Seraphim Thoughts remain, but the Thinker / I-thought will be dissolved.

Thoughts are not a problem, and in fact when they are your slave & not your master, they are very helpful, like a good tool.

And, yes once you see through the I-thought it is like “permanent inner silence”, but probably not what you’re thinking about. There are thoughts, but when you fully accept and embrace them, there is no resistance to them, meaning thought is no longer an issue, same as feelings.

Well yes & no, action is taken because you want to do it, for the joy and for the love of it!

But, of course there is also still an element of routine & discipline, I still have set work hours, and plan in workouts & meetings etc, but you could say each moment is a spontaneous joy, and each moment is fully enjoyed and embraced.

Remember, life is the perfect test for how integrated your spirituality and awakenings truly are!

@Chives99

I agree with your thinking & approach. The only thing I would offer is ‘do nothing’ rather than hold the intention of ‘strong determination’. It’s connotational, but imo it implies there is a you which is determined, as in fighting or withstanding the ‘sitting’. This could set the stage for battle, rather than (imo) the natural curiosity and wonder, and the seeing of the coming and going of thoughts, perception, and feelings.

Also, things will not get ‘scary’ towards the end, things will get very ‘projecty’ towards the end. (Fear is a projection).

@SoonHei thanks man, if only I could take credit for it, but we both know that’s not possible ;)

@Nahm the determination is the higher self Not giving in to the ego , it takes a lot of mental effort to want to sit still and do nothing

@Chives99 Just because you are doing nothing doesn't mean you are experiencing nothing. Do you practice inner body awareness? Have you tried observing nature without naming it? Can you feel the connection between yourself and everything else? There is something beautiful and peaceful about spaciousness. Once you tap into it, and realize that you are it, why would you want to return to the barking insanity of the mind?

Just because God loves you doesn't mean it is going to shape the cosmos to suit you. God loves you so much that it will shape you to suit the cosmos.
