Is love just an emotion?

17 posts in this topic

Why do we always consider love as something different than other emotions? What makes love stand apart from its counterparts like fear, hate, anger etc. ? How is it significant spiritually? Isn't love too a result of chemicals like other emotions?

Fear hate and anger is when you are confused and in denial of what's happening.

Love is when you accept everything that's happening.

Is that what they are? Opposite poles of the same thing?

Because it feels different.

It is advertized a lot.

It makes you vulnerable.

From within the materialist paradigm, yes it is.

Mostly when you read about Love on this forum, it's not love as an emotion.

It's Love as a description of the existential nature of reality (it sounds pious and airy fairy, I know).

It is a quality of reality, it "encompasses" reality - reality/existence is Love.

Maybe this helps:

I have only glimpsed Love but let me dare to try to explain it to you?

How they feel. One feels like complete acceptance and resonance and one feels like resistance.

Is it possible that love actually, is feeling itself, rather than A feeling and therefore that's why when we feel it we feel utter resonance and oneness with it?

Has anyone come across any human being not able to experience love at all, similar to a blind person not able to see?

Then why is it called with the same name?

Love is everything, but if you want to realise that, follow love.

Will try that way.

Yes, it is entirely possible. Love can be the full cup and the other emotions arise as a result of emptying it. Still, I hold it just as one of the many possibilities

There's a mental condition called "detachment disorder" where people can become apathetic and insensitive.

Not sure about your request though. I don't think a human can grow up without emotions. I think they're necessary for growth. But I don't think that emotions are an original feature from birth. They probably develop over time through conditioning, similar to Pavlov's dog experiment.

After awakening,

love here feels not only as an acceptance but also as a big picture understanding of the human condition and behavior.

Things are just seen for what they are because that's what's happening and what's happening is what's true.
