The intersection of entertainment and politics

2 posts in this topic

Politics has turned into a new entertainment now. There's a big problem with this.

When you watch a movie, or you watch an entertainment, you want to see a bloody battle on the screen. It is entertaining to see the hero and the Bond-villain have a knife-fight! (This is something very few people will articulate but it's true xD)

What happens when you start to see politics that way and you start to market it that way? What happens is that people start getting entertained when they see some battle on TV, like the US bombing another country, or a Presidential race. This is catastrophic. It means that people will start to favor Stage Red leaders more because they're entertaining and because they'll be disruptive, they'll do something crazy, they'll give them some blood on TV! What's worse, is that they'll start to see Stage Yellow leaders such as Obama as boring, lukewarm, consensus-driven, non-polarizing, non-controversial people when in reality, you need consensus and integration of perspectives to have a peaceful and functional democracy. You need the boring person to be your President so that he does the work that needs to be done and brings your democracy to a state of order and functionality.

This is the problem with a Stage Orange demographic. It is very emotionally difficult for a Stage Orange person to see this, appreciate this and vote responsibly.

i don't know a lot about sd, but yellow stage must be a weird one if you can kill lots of people (much more civilians) with drones, blow up weddings.

libya? etc.
