Art that is about the ego

3 posts in this topic

I just finished reading the Seinen (adult) manga Goodnight PunPun.  Perfect example of not judging a book by it’s cover.  For people looking for “high consciousness” art this is it.  The creator really dives in and creates a piece about mental illness, your shadow, how your ego can ruin your life with its self deceptions, how your childhood affects your adult life, and how your childhood shapes your life.  Also has one of the best depictions of an abusive relationship in fiction.  Did not expect any of that going in.  It’s a big long, but it is worth a read.  Taught me one thing that I already knew deep down: there is no such thing as a nice person. Also one of the few works on art that got me thinking about my life and what I can do the get out of certain situations .

What else is out there that truly exploited the ego.

Yeah it's interesting. Once you start taking on the lens of spiritual growth, I find that you stumble across all sorts of unlikely places where deep truth can be found.

You might the anime film Ponyo. Amazing animation and real spiritual wisdom.

"Finding your reason can be so deceiving, a subliminal place.

I will not break, 'cause I've been riding the curves of these infinity words and so I'll be on my way. I will not stay.

And it goes On and On, On and On"

@aurum For real.  And I have found that a lot of it is not in Hollywood.  It’s interesting how Hollywood has brainwashed the world thinking that it has the best art (as someone who works in Hollywood I will say that there are some very talented people out here and when allowed can create some great art), but in reality there is so many other countries that offer art that have a deeper insight into human nature.

I have seen Ponyo.  That is an amazing film.  Loved it.  Miyazaki is a true genius.  He is always able to weave spirituality and environmentalism into his films so well without coming off as preachy.  Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are my favorites.

The anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion looking back (made by Miyazaki’s protege) was my first real introduction to non duality.  I remember feeling mindfucked after watching it.
