What I see is a clear agenda to beat Donald Trump. This is a survival agenda. You want to beat Donald Trump, that is why you support this agenda. It also serves you to deny it!

Because some of them are dangerous and incite actual violence and an erosion of political institutions which keep society and all the various groups that comprise it stable and safe. There is a reason why you can't wear the swastika and promote racial purity theory in modern day Germany. It's against the law there. You have the freedom to express yourself but that does not include the freedom to express yourself in ways that attacks the very institutions that allow for free speech and other groups of people with hate speech which what many of the big conspiracies are today. I couldn't care less about Roswell alien encounters and Tupac and Biggie perhaps still being alive somewhere in Nebraska or where ever. Those are silly and harmless and not the main reason behind Leo's recent video. A lot of the toxic conspiracies being addressed today are used to recruit dumb people and hateful people to unconsciously serve their bias towards giving exclusive rights to one ethnic group.

The reason I ask this question is - Say I say something along the lines of 'The sun doesn't exist' and I build a logically cohesive ideology around it. What would you do? You'd laugh at me, you'd let me say whatever craziness I want to and you'd move on. No matter how logically cohesive. I focus on making it logically cohesive to successfully brainwash the dumbest people who have no critical thinking skills. Will I succeed? Absolutely not. Even the stupidest people will see through that.

What if I pointed at Michael Phelps and said 'That's a bad swimmer'. You'd do the same. You'd laugh at me and you'd move on. Note here that I'm saying something negative about another person in this case. It's absurdly false and it's negative.

If you think conspiracy theories are so absurdly false, why is it then that you give them importance and you try so hard to stop them? Wouldn't you just laugh at them and ignore them?

Say you're a corporation and someone says something absurdly false and negative about you. If you set your ego aside, what would your first rational reaction to that be? To ignore it. If you're fighting it, my question to you, then, would be 'What are you hiding? If you have nothing to hide, why are you trying to suppress them?'

Idk why do some of you guys think this is some sort of conspiracy theory. Google has been blunt about this. Here are couple of videos, there were also some interviews couple of years ago, but cant seem to find them.

What is going on is hard to interpret. But judging from the things I have researched and heard directly coming from their own mouths I can kind of.... conclude that:

Well yea, the results are obviously biased. Biased in couple of ways:

First being the capitalist way:
-It is showing you firstly the most relevant adds and not the most relevant search results. This has been happening almost from the start, its baked in their business model. This is made worse by the personalized ad results you get, results driven by the data that was mined from you. This is obvious now in 2020, but in 2012, this would have been a conspiracy theory.

Second one being the progressive way:
- This has been happening in the last 5-7 years lets say, in this period they started to have bias against bias, probably for many reasons. I think this is what we are talking about here, commonly critiqued as "the left leaning bias".

The thing is, if you are trying to get the most relevant results, the most unbiased search results are going to reflect the biased situations in the world, so what you see is bias, but is not the search algorithms fault, its the way things in the world are, its not rocket science. If you google construction worker, or brick layer, CEO or a truck driver, you are probably going to get over 90% males.

Now as I understand it, they are trying to fix this and see it as a racial bias, homophobia ect... build into the algorithm, in a way they are trying to reduce this self-made machine learning bias, the result of those actions being biasing the results with left leaning biases. This might come from the expectancy of that if the algorithm is unbiased it will show equal distribution of all group lets says, or the bare attempt to stop perpetuating existing biases, no clue, probably both.

The way I see it is that they are at an uncomfortable crossroads between stage orange and stage green. Both rubbing at each other... stage orange trying to both exploit and conform to some policies and at the same time the green part of them is fighting both the orange part and its own unsolvable paradox of trying to merge the philosophical opposites of diversity and equity, not realizing that it cant.

There are ofc a lot of technical issues in the mix that most of us are unaware of. Like blink recognition for Asians, or sampling skin tone for black people. It surely makes a situation that is difficult to interpret.

Now I did few search tests again now, it does not seem to be as bad as it was 1-3 years ago.

These are my 2 cents.
