Probably because you have a rigid belief in place. Seriously sometimes teachers have to point out different aspects based on what the energy of the moment needs to express. I have experienced Twin Flame connection and I know it is not an ultimate truth, it is a relative one. Maybe he was just expressing a deeper truth.

Have you watched the video? He talks about maturity. He is not talking about literally becoming conscious. We are all conscious all the time if we have to talk about it. 

I know this vid was for me, and I was sharing for others too. But I need some more maturity in my lifu. Cause Im a damn child I tell you!

But maybe I don't understand what you mean by that. Why would people be shocked and disgusted?

Leo has taught me more outside of the videos. But those are nice too. However if we talk about crazy spiritual stuff, then Leo does not need to do it through a mere youtube vid  He is everywhere.
