Morning Rituals

6 posts in this topic

I've established a pretty good set of morning rituals that I apply for each day and I thought I would share it as it might give people insights because we're all about self actualising and all though I feel like 20% is knowledge the important 80% is the practices and habits you have through out your day. Those as well as increasingly jumping out of your comfort zone, going through the emotional labour is what's gonna beast you.

Sleep 8  pm
Wake up 4 am
Gratitude journal
* Drink water
4:00 - 5:00 am Meditate 1 hour
5:00 - 5:30 am Sentence Completions    ( 6 pillars of self esteem- by Nathanial Brandan)

5:30 - 6:00 Wim hof Breathing Method                                                                                                                  *continue to stay hydrated throughout the day*
6:00- 6:20 am Cold Showers
6:20 - 6:30 am Push up affirmations
6:30 - 7:00 am Breakfast
                > 3 eggs, tomato, mushroom, avocado, oatmeal, chia seeds, milk                                                               *eat a handful of nuts throughout the day*
               > bowl of berries; strawberry, banana, blue berry w/whipped cream
7:00 - 7:30 Clean House
                > clothes, dishes, floors, rooms, toilets, outside
7:30 - 8:00 Gym
                > Basketball
                > post workout shake: pea protein
8:30 - 8:45 am Feed dogs
8:45 - 9:30 am Read

And then from then on its pretty much whatever I want/need to do. I normally just follow off a todo list which I set at the end of the nights, which are also prioritized into which I need to get done first. On top of that I find that getting the biggest things out of the way first is crucial as fuck. The longer you procrastinate something the worse it is. Suffer the initial emotional labour of doing the action and then your emotions and energy will follow.

Then in the night.

Meditate another hour
Write the todo list for the next day
Spend 5 minutes visualising what you are going to do

and nap time  :)

Write down your morning rituals as well so others can see. And we can all learn from each other :)

Could you write down how you managed to establis this morning ritual?
Because I am creating my own, but it is not going as smooth as I would like it to go, and I am intersted on how other people did it. :)

Hello there, I too have struggled with the whole morning ritual thing since I was a freshman in high school. Thinking back to why none of my habits seemed to stick or why I almost self-sabotaged any habits like morning exercise or journaling, I realized that I was thinking of it as I "should" or "ought to" do those things, and that I should feel like crap if I didn't do them. After Leo's video on should statements, and a little before that after experimenting with just letting things happen in the moment, I was able to let go of the heavy feeling of obligation and the copious emotional labor that are all to often associated with starting new positive habits, especially in the morning time. I have also found, aside from eliminating should statements from my mental jargon, that meditation and simply shutting the hell up and being aware fixes your dilemma of making a habit stick for good this time around. IF YOU ARE SIMPLY AWARE THAT THE HABIT IS GOOD FOR YOU, YOU WILL CONTINUE. Again, much kudos to Leo for his video on awareness being curative. This is kind of a vomitus mass of a paragraph, so here is my advise in a nutshell.

                           1. eliminate should statements (see Leo's video on the matter)

                           2. start meditating every day (see Leo's many videos for inspiration and/ or techniques that actually work)

                          3. let awareness of the benefits of your habits do the rest (see Leo's Awareness is Curative video)

These three things will have you waking up at 5 am and hitting those miles or those weights before the sun even comes up, minus all the emotional labor and pain, guaranteed. I speak from experience ;)

I use the HabitBull app on my phone to keep track of habits I'm establishing.

Right now it's tracking:

  • Affirmations (2 different ones, 5 minutes each)
  • Meditation (At least once in the morning, once before bed)
  • Reading (At least 1 hour a day)

And without the app, I started reviewing my strengths and values list at least 5 minutes every day, and walking 30 minutes, before I do any type of work or study.

  • Waking up 5am
  • Sleeping 8 hours

(There's still a lot more I want to add, this is just stuff I'm getting into the habit of this month.)

It's not that complex. I meditate, eat breakfast and then do some writing. After that the day is up in the air.

Personally, I don't like serious scheduling. Not nuanced enough of a way to live for me.

  1. Get up at random hour
  2. Don't care
  3. Fuck routines

I do have some daily habits, though : 30 min meditation; blogging; general creative work (shooting a video, creating a course, etc.); affirmation-contemplation-visualization (30min total); learning (reading, going through a program...); exercise 5 days a week.

I feel myself pretty productive with this, I'm happy with that. I will increase meditation to 1h soon. And I know that morning and evening are good times to do mental habits because our mind is more receptive (waiting for Leo's subconscious reprogramming course).
