Trump is smarter than you think

I'm not an American, so I don't know much. 

But I think the republican party gets a lead in the elections because of some mess up in the electoral college and the gerrymandering.. 

The Dems don't get the benefit. I don't know the intricacies of this. But so far this is what I gathered. 

I'm still in the initial stages of learning politics. 

The popular vote should count imo. 

I don't know how this process actually works. 

To me it seems there is some loophole somewhere even if the elections are democratic

Regardless of approval, he is using his "conquest" of Covid as a ploy to ignite his followers.   We will see ultimately if his followers are enough to win four more years.  There is a really good chance of it unfortunately.  I hope the nation can pull forward and advance past his regime - but i am not so sure that is where we are at collectively.

He has the lowest approval rating of any US president.

@Leo Gura If that were true, no politician would care about rural areas. The government would specially focus in the infrastructure and measures needed in the big cities in order to get votes and that would unbalance the development in the country.

Your own logic defeats itself since right now no politician cares about 40 million people in California. You are cool with that. Yet the prospect of not caring about some rednecks in Wyoming offends you.

The country should not be run according to the agenda of rednecks in tiny towns and underpopulated states. There is no balance in the development of this country. It is deeply undemocratic and backwards.

It would be wise of the us to focus on the background leading up to today's political climate rather than just lashing at the guy who happens to be a winner out of it. There have always been people with all sorts of defective personalities and diminished mental capacities. So why is it that certain societies pick one and turn them into omnipotent Gods, or demons, or both simultaneously in this case?

The current administration is a perfect reflection of social media's detrimental effect on the human brain, the bitter rivalry between the respective owners of CNN and Fox, and the resulting absence of peace, unity, clarity and wisdom made manifest. It is a product of millions of people around the world being seduced into various forms of devilry.

If it is true that "the best is yet to come", this will also be a perfect reflection of a primitive society manifesting another troll-ocracy. We haven't learned much in the past 4 years.

Do you think some local autonomy should be allowed for redneck communities? If the U.S. was governed at the federal level by the majority, I wonder if it's wise to throw redneck communities some scraps of red meat at the local level.

But local and state laws will still exist.

Rednecks can rule themselves at the local level. Just not the rest of the country and world.

The electoral college is an old remnant from slave times. Rural plantation states wanted to have control over their own affairs and it's what made sense for the politicians and the union of that time. It's time to abolish it an go by a popular vote. The only reason republicans hold as much seats as they do in congress and win presidential elections is because they get free votes from rural states with tiny populations and zero diversity.
