Smells & Visions

Hello guys! I`ve got this question that it`s been on my mind now and maybe you can help me. I was meditating the other day (one of Leo`s videos on guided meditation) and suddenly I get these flashes of white-purple light or flame of some sort. Now the most intriguing part is that while meditating, I have started smelling 2 kinds of particular smells - one dates back from my childhood and the other was a flower scent. None of those two smells were from the room. 

I have been meditating before but never got to have these strong impulses. Do you know what might cause them or what may indicate? Thank you!

Of course old memories from the past can bubble up to the surface while you meditate. Smell memories can be quite strong in some people.
