Tailor Your Environment To Suit You

7 posts in this topic

I have lots of interests and have trouble sticking with something long enough to get good at it. I like motorcycles, shooting sports, and outdoor adventures. I think the main reason I have avoided integrating these interests into my life is my location/living situation. I live in an anti-gun desert state that I can't afford to live in on my own. I think that moving to a new place (with forests) out on my own will not only allow me to pursue my interests more, but also give me space to really self-actualize without my family's bad influences and annoyances. I plan to move after the pandemic and I think it would be wise for others to ask themselves if they are in a place that suits their wants and needs, both geographically and socially.

Is there a shooting range nearby?

Maybe archery out in the woods would be less destructive and dangerous, but I'm just nitpicking.

OK but to your question :  yes I think that it is very wise and emotionally adept to choose where to live, especially in a place that will allow you to pursue your interests. Just be wary that your interests can drastically change as you actualize and you may grow weary in what was once paradise. Or you might want to die there. Please consider marriage very highly into these huge life choices.  If I wasn't married I would enjoy a nomadic lifestyle, or I would join a high conscious self sufficient community.  I really crave that now, but alas it is not the family agenda.

@seeking_brilliance I do archery as well. How do you find a high conscious community? I never considered such a place. I would imagine you'd have to use the Spiral Dynamics model to identify these places. I will take that into account and do some research. Thank you.

One of the thing I want to do have to do with geography as well. I ended up not doing it and felt regret.
