@I spiral dynamics is a model. It’s a guide. It a way to organize some chaos. It’s a pattern of the chaos. It’s not about fitting people into boxes. It’s about how one’s life conditions changes ones values to adapt to the new life conditions.

I don't think that's a cult. Maybe just a system that he wants to be a part of. 

Cults are very different in the sense you're overly restricted and regulated sometimes against your wish and mistreated.
