How To Deal With Being A Hypochondriac?

2 posts in this topic

Since I've started self-actualization work I've managed to cure and manage a lot of my anxieties and depression through understanding them in a matter of months which were initially were labelled as 'moderate to severe anxiety and depression' and i feel a lot more mature now than i did back then since this self-actualization work.

But the one issue I still haven't been able to resolve is being a hypochondriac, I've been able to manage it to a degree but the thoughts of getting sick by highly unlikely causes still come to my mind, the problem I face is that I believe that these thoughts and feelings are necessary to keep myself and others alive and healthy by eliminating all risks, I no longer act upon these thoughts very often compared to how i used to but they still bug me, it 's almost like I'm lacking an understanding of something that cause these thoughts, I've watched leos videos on depression, anxiety and etc but when it comes to physical health risks it seems like being aware of the risks should matter.

Another thing i should add is that these thoughts only seem to become an issue and harder to dismiss when i have a lot of caffeine which i consume on a daily basis, which i have been reducing from my diet, the thing is i don't believe that the caffeine is the issue because whether i have caffeine or not i still think about my health and potential health risks that could be present.

Understand that the body needs a certain amount of stressors for optimal function and that most dangerous spooky 'health hazards' are just fine as stressors. Minor bacterial exposure will let you body produce a wider range of antibodies to travel your bloodstream and it will decrease the tendency for the immune system to randomly lash out with allergies or even be more susceptible to auto-immune diseases. Remember your body is a product of millions of years of evolution: it may not be the most resilient, but little things won't take it down unless they're given a good deal of time, repitition/ quantity. Along with evolution is the fact, that our bodies are  not designed to last forever, but long enough to mate for a good few years and take care of offspring for a little bit longer. The body, health and wellness are all worthy pursuits but they will fade as surely as your life and if you can accept that fully, then you can still be health-conscious as opposed to neurotically trying to maintain Form/mortality.
