Why are Republicans against progressive ideas?

It is a thing to be republican vs democrate  and a totally different thing to be progressive or not. If that is the case, why are the majority of republicans are against Ideas like rebuilding the health care system or something like taxing the rich. Why are they not in favor of these ideas?

@Eren Eeager Most republican voters are for rebuilding the health care system politicians just don't represent them. For example Trump said he will give everybody health care but when he came into office he took away health care and most of them probably don't even know that. 

But taxing the rich is one step away from communism.

The USA is mainly build like a corporation. The democracy part is just a part of it. That is the tradition. Why would you change a badly but still running system?

The USA is not meant to be a normal country. It's the country of competition. That is the American experiment.

Otherwise it would be just another country. It's progressive sometimes to do something new. The new thing is the USA imho.

@Epikur exactly because it’s running badly. That’s like saying why try to improve your life? You’re just getting by, that good enough right? Progressive politics is precisely what the USA was made for, pushing the ticket, if we are so competitive why do we rank so low on healthcare, education, prison population, happiness, and other metrics? 
 

doesn’t seem like the experiment is working so well for most of the people, undeniably there will be people are living lavish lives, that will always happen but the consensus is that most people want single payer, want a higher standard of living, want money out of politics, and want to tax the wealthy more. 
 

our political system is very ineffective, and that’s why we constantly need to be improving it in a conscious and effective way, not idealism of the way things used to be because we can’t go back in time we can only more forward

90% of people who vote do not seriously think about actual policy. They vote based on their gut feel, which is governed by their level of Spiral development.

Voting is not a logical activity. It's more akin to watching porn or scratching an itch.

Progressive is a vague term. Conservatives build the country on hard work. Hard work generates change. Without hard work there is not much change.

Republican candidates are just a representative sample of the Republican base. They have similar levels of cognitive and moral development. Similar levels of consciousness. All conservatives are highly conformist by nature. That's their entire MO.

They are against progressive ideas because their minds are not open to new ideas period. They would even be against putting mayo on their french fries or eating ducks instead of chickens or wearing purple hair.

It's funny that I've done 2/3 out of those things and know a dude who dyed his hair purple
