The Shadow Work Thread

11 posts in this topic

I am creating this thread in hope of being able to get the community to start doing shadow work collaboratively. I believe by seeing and accepting each other's shadows, forgiving each other, we can do even deeper conciousness work. Much of our egotistical selves are rooted in how we imagine other's percieve us and our imagination of how others are.

Let's show each other radical honesty and forgiveness. Confess our deepest shame, learn from each other, and practice mutual compassion.

I will start off with a confession of my own:

Most of my kindness is just a subtle way to manipulate others. I feign genuine interest in their well being so that they can serve my self agenda.

I acknowledge this and forgive myself.

Part of me has a narcissistic desire to be praised  for making this thread. I have a egotistical drive to see myself influencing others and feeling powerful as a consequence. It is present along side the authentic desire to do conciousness work and to help others do the same.

I accept this reality, this selfishness. I forgive myself and love reality all the same. I accept the suffering I cause myself from having such desires. I do not resist this.

I confess to hoping self actualization will somehow make me superior to others or happier than my peers. I secretly want to be praised for the greatness I could obtain from being self realized. I am not fully commited to doing this work for the sake of truth alone.

I acknowledge that I have not sought Truth so that I may recieve Nothing for all my sacrifice. I accept that I have not let go of my grandiose fantasies of being someone special and powerful rather than Nobody.

I accept this reality.

I forgive myself the anger and resentment I harbor toward all those who have rejected me or who have failed my insecurity. I forgive the others for having done that as well. Reality is perfect as is.

To accept your thoughts & desires is a step in becoming more aware of them, but do not judge them too much, labelling them 'good' or 'bad' - as it is part of your experience and ultimately is as should be.

May I ask what you define as Shadow Work?

I appreciate your concern. You are verrtY (sorry, glitch phone) aware of the pitfalls of labelling and mistaking thoughts for reality. I am remaining conScious Of the fact That nothing I say IS true as I am saying IT.  I am simply using words as a vehicle for the expression of ego and exploration of self, a means of practicing compassion and acceptance to formerly denied aspects of reality, not truly labeling and buying I NTO what IS being said.

To me, Shadow Work IS a means of realizing and accepting  the repressed vestiges of self, a way of becoming more accepting of reality's perfection.

I doN't know how compatible this IS wITH  self realization, but my experience IS that It IS conducive to the development of higher levels of conciousness. Sorry for the verbosity; nothing more concise camevto Mind right away.

From what I understand is that shadow work is only shadow work from the egos perspective. From consciouness' s perspective there is no such thing as 'shadow'. Maybe it's wrong interpretation..I don't know for sure

@Orange There's no physical universe from the Self's perspective, so I have heard.

You don't have to ignore everything else. It is okay to still live life and even understand human psychology.
