How To Build A Strong Work Ethic

In the video called " advice for highschool students" Leovsaid that it is important to develop a strong work ethic while you are  young. And that for me is a sticking point that I want to change.

I feel like I am too much of a mental masturbator because I watch lots of videos, but I want to take more action and actually practice more of what Leo preaches and build this strong work ethic.

I know this would make a difference in the results I get from this work and would make me more fulfilled as a person overall. I can also transfer this ability into my life purpose (when I find it) and that will lead to a greater chance of me realizing it. 

Any suggestions for how I build a strong a strong work ethic?

@Christian I won't recommend any books or videos, since you'll be mental-masturbating on them. My advice: just do it! DO it. Take action. Just do it. Get your shit together and get things done. Just start. Tell people what you are going to do, colleagues, friends, parents. Tell them that you are going to meditate every day, tell them that you are going to keep your inbox clean, tell them you are going to have X or Y done before dat Z. And ask them to check up on you. Then that creates a security; they will check upon you if you walk your talk. This is an external motivation, I know, but if you lack discipline, this helps you to get used to the new habits. As soon as you see the benefits for yourself, it will become an intrinsic motivation to have a strong work ethic.
