Is This Synesthesia?

I think I have a mild form of synesthesia, I see vague abstract colorless shapes in my minds eye when I hear sounds and music. I dont have to force it, its been happening all my life I just didnt realize it. If I look closely at the shape I could probably draw it on a paper, but its quite dynamic and changes shape a bit as I try to look at it.

Do you guys and gals have this too, or maybe you see colors from sound? Do you think its useful? Or maybe some other thing thats not audio-visual?

@Rilles  Check out Daniel Tammet, he claims he sees numbers in his mind’s eye, says he can see each number as a distinctive color and shape. He can perform quite impressive calculations in his mind, apparently all he has to do is close his eyes and see what colors and shapes form, and that supposedly gives him the correct answer (very suspicious claim). 

There really are people who can do complex calculations without doing it analytically, so i don't find the claim too suspicious.

 

OP, its probably a form of synaesthesia. There are many forms. I sometimes see video clips in my minds eye when i listen to music, but not like the same colours for the same videos, so thats more imagination. When i hear peoples voice, i can link that to cognitive functions, so thats a sensory to conceptual synaesthesia.

This also happens with me in this order of frequency:

1. See sounds
2. See thoughts (both eyes closed and open)
3. See touch
4. Smell colors
5. Feel others emotions as colors or bodily feelings

To be honest this happens more frequently when I'm under effect of stimulants like Caffeine, Ritalin and Modafinil (mainly).

I can also sense how distant people are of me just by their body heat. Like if someone is behind me.
