Anyone here been "Shadow possessed"?

11 posts in this topic

My personality has been changing quite a bit in the past few months. In some respects its the natural course of things but I think it's possible I've opened Pandora's box a few too many times whether it's spiritual experiences, meditation or contemplation.

But I've inexplicably become a lot more driven by "winning" and conquest. So it's served as a good motivator, I never used to have as much motivation as I do now. I'm still low motivation but it's more now. I find myself getting pathologically high on my own ego.

I conquered a fear I had two days ago for example, body was full of adrenaline, and the adrenaline highs you can get are an intense pleasure. And it's guiding me well compared to before. The price I pay is irritability, impatience when things are inefficient or not going my way. My neuroticism is about the same, I'm just more active and the neuroticism becomes anger rather than sadness.

Hark ye yet again — the little lower layer. All visible objects, man, are but as pasteboard masks. But in each event — in the living act, the undoubted deed — there, some unknown but still reasoning thing puts forth the mouldings of its features from behind the unreasoning mask. If man will strike, strike through the mask! How can the prisoner reach outside except by thrusting through the wall? To me, the white whale is that wall, shoved near to me. Sometimes I think there's naught beyond. But 'tis enough.

Bipolar?

I've had sex binges a few years back, probably a sexual shadow, if that's what you meant. It's normal when you pursue spirituality and contemplate deeper, you muddy the waters and you fish out a sea monster. Sometimes it happens and that's that.

@Gesundheit Possibly. I wouldn't mind having bipolar if it's like this, in contrast to severe depression I've had before. The energies behind bipolar are more versatile than, and can be leveraged more than, the energies behind a monotone depression. Assuming this is actually bipolar which it might not be.

@Danioover9000 yeah it happens and that's that.

Having said that I have another theory.

This may be an "overcorrection" (for lack of a better word) for the period of time that you were depressed. You know like balancing things out. Since you were possibly repressing some things during your depression, the energy releases you're experiencing right now feel freeing and since you weren't used to these levels of positive experiences, your "bodily receptors" were adapted to the negative experiences so that the threshold was very low. Now it's expanding.

What do you think?

@Gesundheit yeah I think this is probably an overcorrection for me being lazy and low dopamine before. Things will make more sense in hindsight I think. Just repressed rage/vitality coming out.

I have the daunting feeling that this well of karma is very deep. This well must have always been here but I see it more clearly now. A lot of neuroticism, rage, anxiety, volatility, insecurities, etc.

Of course "karma" may be a fiction it's the best word to describe the feeling one gets of seeing this wall and how much is ahead.

No, I've not been shadow possessed. Pay attention to your thoughts. You are love. Everything you do is love and when you are shadow possessed, that's also love.

What I do have are suppressed feelings, stuck somewhere deep inside of me. Wanting to express themselves. Wanting to be accepted and made space for. I've worked on that by releasing these feelings.

Like I said in your last thread, impatience/low tolerance can be a good thing. While there might not be a need to get all upset and angry when your needs are not met. There is even less a need for tolerating other people's bullshit and sucking it all up, letting the anger build inside you.

So, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Allow yourself to be irritated, impatient or angry. The pendulum will swing back and you will come to your center. Naturally.

Achieve resolution for your problems.

Pursue inspiration, romance, challenge, belonging, union.

Focus on greatness, mastery as well. Propel yourself forward.

I experienced shadow possession or similar late last year,

And on the other hand, maybe rather than moving upward, you should let yourself fall into ego posession. That will allow you to reset so that you can move yourself back up more effectively.

So try to get a feel for whether you need to move up or down, and allow and help that to happen. Shadow is no place to stay.

Shadow possession is a state of constant stress emotion, such as fear, anger, etc. That is my understanding.

These emotions need to be resolved. The sadness may be longing, which is the entry way to the levels above shadow.

Either the higher states are still there and can be turned up, or there is a system shut down with shadow giving way to ego, and then springing back up from the lowest level back to the frontier.
