Normal To Slouch While Sds?

4 posts in this topic

Hey Guys! I was doing an SDS today and while the sit I unconsciously or consciously (I really don't know) began to slouch forwards with my back .... Is this normal or should it not happen/try to forcefully keep my back straight the entire time consciously. I tried to sit through it but failed  :/ Thx!

@NicolasDo you mean you loose concentration and are falling asleep? What I do is I sit against the wall which keeps my back straight. I have my compleet back against the wall and my legs crossed and very close to my croch which creates a tension that keeps my back against the wall.

@Eelco1981 Ah ok. Yeah what I mean is that I loose concentration and then tilt forward with my body - but since it's SDS I'm not allowed to move myself back into the same starting position. Surprisingly I never really have to deal with falling asleep due to the pain I have to deal with I guess

I slouch too but keep going anyway. I'm not sure how it affects the effectiveness of the meditation, but I personally feel that just sitting still for longer and longer time periods regardless of posture creates deep results. To my understanding the basis of the technique is that you simply sit still through all the sensations and train your nervous system to drop resistance, opening up your conciousness to being and accepting reality.  Sitting with your back against a wall or doing back and core exercises to strengthen your muscles may help with posture.
