Productivity: The effectiveness of productive effort, especially in industry, as measured in terms of the rate of output per unit of input.

Here are the most useful ideas I have found on increasing productivity/effectiveness:

 

• 80/20 Principle: Most things don't matter. Focus on essentials, delete / delegate / outsource the rest. 

 

 

• Learn every aspect of your business, break it down into components, build a system, and delegate everything. Work ON your business, not IN it. 

 

 

• "Constantly seek feedback", "Strengthen your strengths.", and many other gems. 

 

 

• Productivity Pyramid: A refined, more applicable version of 80/20 principle. Puts all activities in a neat, actionable model. 

 

 

• The Inner Butterfly effect: Cause and effect, Inner and outer butterflies. We are not in as control as we think. 

 

 

• Creating a second brain / Collect, Organize, Distill, Express: This is very similar to the idea of keeping a commonplace book. Since most of us are knowledge workers, this is especially valuable.
