Spiritual journey and work

7 posts in this topic

So i am in a place right now where ego is dissolving just by itself. I stopped resisting and peace happened.

At the same time, i started working in a very demanding environment. My work actually consist of thinking, calculating and meeting a lot of people.

So is it possible to be effective on your job without identifying with thoughts? Is not the false I which is motivating factor for imagining things, thinking and being effective at work?

Because I dont care about work anymore, but still I have to eat and sleep some where.

No, the false I creates resistance, and surrounds itself with lots of thoughts, but if you need to think a lot at work that is totally fine, those thoughts are good! I study so I also need to think a lot, it doesn't limit my happiness, thoughts are like dancing elementals in our ocean of christ consciousness! Silence is very nice too.

This might be a helpful perspective:

Your work is a part of your spiritual journey. It's a test - in a sense. It's where none of your spiritual stuff matters to anyone, but all of it is required from you to be implemented.

How spiritual can you be amongst people who don't give a damn about your spirituality? How smooth is your thought processing in times of pressure? How quickly or easily do you get agitated? How often do you dream about stuff that has nothing to do with what you're doing at that precise moment? How frequently would you rather be anywhere else but at work?

It's easy to be spiritual in the forest or on the top of a mountain. Work... is a different kind of spiritual business.

Great perspective, had a similar contemplation today starting a new job which is just a side hustle for the moment, so not a life purpose thing. I always have to think about Gurdjeff, and how he also found labor to be excellent for transformation. It's like relationships, a test on the battlefield
