YouTube premium is literally better than sliced bread

Nice, it costs only 2.5 dollars in Russia, so i might try it as well. The background feature sounds very useful

I have youtube premium but youtube still sucks with copyright takedowns and demonotising youtubers, whether the channel is large or small. Even channels with 100's of thousands of subs struggle in appealing take downs. The optimal strategy to get your videos back is to literally spam youtube with emails (or even spam mentions on twitter) over and over again, and even then it will probably take you months.

Even copyright aside, anything remotely controversial gets demonitised.

Hark ye yet again — the little lower layer. All visible objects, man, are but as pasteboard masks. But in each event — in the living act, the undoubted deed — there, some unknown but still reasoning thing puts forth the mouldings of its features from behind the unreasoning mask. If man will strike, strike through the mask! How can the prisoner reach outside except by thrusting through the wall? To me, the white whale is that wall, shoved near to me. Sometimes I think there's naught beyond. But 'tis enough.

I don't think that youtube premium is worth its money I bought a monthly subscription and I was very disappointed, I thought that with this subscription I will have more privileges. There are a lot of free apps that you can use to have features that youtube premium provides.

It's not that youtube prenium is great > it's just that regular youtube & youtube music are annoying as fuck ... constant annoying ads every video, it's like how with trains & plains they just lower the quality of the regular seats, to make the premium seats cost more.

@Striving for more Dude, YT is a freemium service.

You expect all of YouTube's content to be delivered to you without ads for free? What entitled fantasy world are you living in?

$12/mo to remove ads is a bargain. No other fancy features are needed. If you are too cheap to pay for an ad-free experience, then suffer through the ads -- that's the cost of your cheapness. Those who value their time and mind will gladly pay $12/mo for the ad-free option.

If your time and mind isn't worth $12/mo, you got a bigger problem.

@Leo Gura  I pay only $3 a month. I'm lucky. It's cheap in my country. Earlier it was $2 and now they increased it to $3. Haha.

Also I got special discount as one of the first few members who immediately applied for YouTube premium the day it got launched in my country. So I was given special discounts on prices. I am their oldest and valued customer. Hehe.

I made a smart move and earned a discount.

I don't get it why should we give money to YouTube, it's monopolistic giant, it basically destroys competition and small businesses, cares 0 for user privacy. If you want to achieve any online presence you are basically doomed if you choose to boycott YouTube. Why not just use adblocker? There are tons of them online and for phones. It would be so beneficial for mankind if we cut back profit for the biggest data monopoly on Earth, and use it to invest in other things. YouTube doesn't just ear money from Premium. That's side income for them. They became multi-billion company because pf data mining and tracking all of their users. People like Leo shouldn't depend on YouTube to gain their audience, but we live in a world where you basically can't escape YT.

I get it, it enables us to watch everything, it's almost a peak of human evolution in technology. But we have to move past that. We have much more to achieve technology-wise, and we as a civilization have touched the tip of the iceberg in Internet development, Google has led that revolution during 00s but now it has just become a virus, eating everything just for the sake of maximum profit return.

The more aggressive yt gets with the ads the less i'm willing to pay for it.

I tried amazon music and it's great. Free trial. Not sure if i'm going to pay for this in the future but at least it doesn't force me to buy it.

Since I am mostly on PC, I use uBlockOrigin adblocker extension. It's not like I can pay for Youtube premium and all. And If I am getting a real good experience without paying why not? If I was rich then yeah I would buy Youtube Premium since it will also extend to my phone. By right now ads aren't even a problem for me. And it's not like I need Youtube Music and all that. And I don't know why despise ads so much?

I honestly don't care if Google or any big corporations get money. I have better things to do(self-actualization) than give fucks about hating ads and demonizing corporation.

60% of the money goes to YT creators.

YouTube is very helpful. It's one of the best things that happened to me.

I'm no fool. I like paying YouTube.

Sure it's a good thing that the money goes to creators. They could also advertise it this way and not indirectly say to you pay for youtube or else we will do our best to hate your experience with the free version.

I tend to listen to Youtube videos in the same way I listen to podcasts while doing other things (such as driving), so I haven't really looked back since they introduced the feature to skip ads for ten bucks. That said, I'm not sure I could justify using the service if content creators were getting screwed out of Ad Revenue, so I'm very glad I'm still supporting the channels I watch regularly.

On a related note, I remember hearing a while back that Netflix was considering maybe allowing ads on its platforms, and something like %60 of users said they'd cancel their subscription if it ever came to that. And honestly good riddance, most advertising is highly manipulative and unethical (and not to mention annoying). Much better to just pay eight or ten bucks a month; still pennies in the bucket compared o the highway robbery that is cable.

Hey Leo, any chance you might consider doing a video on How to Run an Ethical ( or Conscious ) Business at some point, that would include Principles on ethical Marketing (assuming that isn't an oxymoron)?

one question concerning the youtube iOS app. I find it annoying that in the downloads section (or in all playlists for that matter) the autoplay function is turned on and there doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off. do you have any advice? is it only me who is annoyed by this?
