Is the world getting darker or is it just my head?

My mom always complained that humanity is coming to an apocalyptic end, each year for the past 10 years or so... and I always told her "No mom, statistically things are getting better. Dont let the news fool you, they thrive on fear".

But man, this year has been a nightmare. Reading the news each day is taking a heavy toll on my soul, but I also cant stop at this point because I am too invested in the goings of humankind.

I thought the internet would help humanity grow intellectually, but I didn't anticipate stupidity, greed and ignorance to take hold of that tool to manipulate the masses into deeper levels of idiocy and hopelessness. 

Sure one could say that we are at a "tipping point", but where is it going to tip to? Hong Kong completely lost despite all the protests and uprisings. It looks like Evil is winning and those few to fight against it are silenced or killed.

How can I rise above all this negativity around me? I have been battling depression since childhood as it is already. Is the answer as simple as stop reading the news?

He has good messages, but then he claims earth is an angel academy for the "Pleiadian" alien civilization, and we are stuck here until we achieve oneness so we can graduate and ascend to a higher dimension. I enjoy his love seminars but the woo angel stuff rubs me the wrong way.

I am more of a Rupert Spira kind of guy.

Yes, that's the best way. Your mother thinks it's all getting bad because she's is thinking relatively.

Her mind and your mind compares things in the near past (and not the distant past ) with the present simply because that's how our minds are conditioned.

People's desire never stops because they are relative. Your always desire a better world, no matter how better it is getting everyday. Once you reach the absolute levels of consciousness and stop thinking in relative terms, you will see how beautiful the world is. Even death and poverty will seem beautiful.

But for now, to get a quick answer whether the world is getting darker or not relatively, start filling your head and the people around you with positive things like the one in the link:

@Mafortu Yes, no need to believe any of that, that's just some story. I love Spira too, but I find Matt was the one who actualized the stuff Spira talks about for me. It can easily become a mental masturbation if you're not in touch with your feelings.

We are going to very volatile times, yes.  If it's weighing on you I'd recommend taking a break from all the media and news to clear your mind, it helps.  

It's also important to have perspective.  I saw an interesting post somewhere pointing out that if you were born in the year 1900 and lived a full life you went through two world wars, a pandemic that decimated the global population, and an effectively a complete collapse of the economic system in the great depression.
