Simultaneous enlightenment with wife

Hi guys, first time poster on this forum. I've been browsing for the last couple days and have appreciated the content here, lots of interesting stuff! For my first post I'd like to break down the recent story of how my wife (who for the purposes of the story we'll call Yin) and I had a simultaneous enlightenment experience together… It’s the most amazing story of our lives.

The lead up: we're both pretty seasoned with psychedelics (dmt, Ayahuasca, lsd, etc, etc), and have been using them to explore consciousness since we first started dating 5 or 6 years ago. About a year and a half ago, Yin and I decided to candy-flip for the first time (lsd+mdma). Despite having done plenty of either independently, we'd never actually used a combination of the two together, so decided to give it a shot. When the day arrived that we had planned to do it however, I just wasn't feeling in the right head space. The whole idea of mixing suddenly felt very indulgent; an excuse to get high when I had important things to do later that week. So I told Yin that I wanted to call it off. Yin was really upset at my sudden change of mind as we'd been planning this for some time. She ended up convincing me to do it anyway (which as we will see, turns out to be quite an interesting part of the story), and that afternoon we went ahead with our candy-flip. 

The experience begins: several hours into the trip it was all hitting nicely. The mdma had enveloped us with that familiar sense of warmth and deep connection to one another, and the acid was bringing our thoughts to interesting places. The doses weren't overpowering, and we felt quite with it and in control. Here's where it all changed gears: while we're talking about our partnership with each other, Yin and I have a joint epiphany that at any given time we are actively playing out the archetypal masculine and feminine in our relationship with each other: that is to say, in addition to being lovers, I also play either the role of her ‘father’ or ‘son’ (i.e. the protective provider, or the child being nurtured and comforted), while she simultaneously acts as either my mother or daughter, in something like an never-ending dance. After we finish this thought, Yin leaves the room for a moment. As I ponder our conversation, I suddenly feel as though I have been torn out of our plane of reality. The whole room erupts with energy; pairs of luminescent beams of light surge into my field of vision and as far as I can see, spiraling around each other as double-helixes into infinity (see attached image for something akin to what I'm talking about).

Note: I've got to stress that we were having only mild visuals up until this point, so this sudden step shift was drastic. The closest thing I can compare to the way that my plane of reality was ripped out from under my feet would be a DMT breakthrough, but even still, this blew everything that I've ever experienced out of the water.

At this point Yin bursts back into the room, and exclaims 'Wait! Are you seeing what I'm seeing?'. We both start describing what we're experiencing, and realize that we're in the same state, and witnessing the same thing. In this moment we're perceiving the energy that is binding these beams of light together as a consciousness so powerful that you cannot even fathom it. As we're sitting together in this state, and excitedly discussing it, we realize that this consciousness (all consciousness for that matter) is love, and that consciousness/love is the fundamental energy of the universe. We realize that we're seeing is what people since the dawn of time have referred to as god. As much as we are observing it, we also realize that we are it. It feels as though we're tapped into this higher consciousness, that we've merged with, and are channeling it. The best way I can describe it to someone who hasn't had the experience, is imagine that you're suddenly imbued with an IQ of 10,000. We are both flooded with understanding about the essential nature of reality, and it feels as though we've risen about the maze, or as though all the cards in the deck are now face up, and we can see all things clearly.

Revelations: As we start thinking with our new-found consciousness, we realize that what we are experiencing in this moment is what every major religion since the dawn of time has been based on. We then realize that we unintentionally acted out the story of Adam and Eve; Yin had pressured me to candy-flip with her that afternoon and I begrudgingly went along with it. In our case the substances we took were the apple in the garden of Eden, and the apple is very probably a metaphor for a psychedelic mushroom that a pair of proto-humans took together. Those proto-humans had the same experience that we were now having, and by being imbued with this higher conscious, transcended the physical limitations of their primitive minds, becoming the first humans. It's literally the oldest story of mankind. From here we understand that evolution is not merely dictated by the slow creep of material Darwinian processes, but can happen in leaps and bounds, when individuals have direct contact with source consciousness, and drag the rest of their species forward with them. We then have the realization that this is the technical definition of a Messiah, and that anyone, including myself or Yin, can actually become a Messiah if they bring this knowledge back, and elevate human consciousness with it. (Note: Neither I nor Yin are making any claims to this state; we merely felt that we understood the mechanism by which people can reach this point).

Facing death: At this point we start looking at our human bodies and begin to laugh at the crudeness of our flesh and bones. We feel very much detached from our limited primate bodies. At the same time we both start asking ourselves 'so wait... are we done here? Like, we’ve figured it out – is that it?'. We begin to feel as though the credits are playing in a video game that we'd just beaten... as though we'd beaten the game of life. And at the same time we both begin to experience the uncanny sense that we're both starting to slide down a ‘cosmic conveyor belt’ into the abyss. As crazy as this sounds, Yin and I have the sudden realization that we are facing the door to death, and if we accept it, we could choose that path right now, and take that cosmic conveyor belt to whatever lies next. It felt OK, as though there was nothing to fear. 

Yin suddenly jumps up and exclaims 'We can't die yet! We can't do it to our families!'. We realize in this moment that we have to will ourselves to live and say no to death. We focus our attention on our decision to live and the conveyor belt stops. However, the enlightened state where we are both channeling god continues with very much the same intensity (this is several hours in already). I break out in laughter at the realization that we had just faced death while 'candy-flipping', what a ridiculous cosmic joke.

The next day: Our enlightened state lasted many more hours after this, starting at what was probably around 9pm, to 5am when we finally decided to go to sleep. We both woke up the next day in tears at the enormity of what we had experienced. While experienced with psychedelics, neither of us had had any knowledge that awakening was possible prior to the experience, and it fundamentally shook our conception of reality. Even though it was the morning after, I still felt the lingering traces of that higher state of consciousness, and for the latter half of that day I was able to think through any question that I put my mind to in a way that I simply wasn’t capable of in my regular state.  

Upon reflection: Looking back at the experience a year and a half on I’ve got a few reflections and updates about what happened –

• My understanding is that this was a tantric awakening, which explains why we both experienced it at the same time.
• Our best theory is that it had been our musings on the archetypal relationship between the masculine and feminine principles that had acted as a 'key' to unlocking our experience of awakening - something like accessing a tantric state of mind with our intellects as opposed to with our physical bodies.
• The combination of lsd+mdma turned out to be quite an effective mixture for reaching an enlightened state. The mdma allowed us to experience our bond at a heightened level, while the lsd placed us in an open and liminal state of mind, both of which made our tantric awakening all the more powerful. Our dose of lsd also likely allowed us to stay in that state for so many hours; you get a similar elongating effect when you combine acid with dmt for example.
•  Whether through deep prayer, meditation, psychedelics, or any other practice, I now realize that there are innumerable ways to experience awakening, and I wouldn’t belittle one route over the next.
• Buddhists monks have been known to spontaneously die while in deep meditation. I suspect that those individuals had a similar experience to what Yin and I did when we faced death and chose to live. They instead just chose to see what was on the other side of the ‘cosmic conveyor belt’.
• Francis Crick, who won a Nobel prize for his discovery of DNA, discovered the double-helix structure of DNA while on acid, and I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
• The double helix as represented by the masculine and feminine principle spiraling around one another is another way of depicting the Yin-Yang symbol, which is also the essence of Taoism.

A few questions, please. Could you please say what was the quantity you each that you took. Had you and your wife tried tantric practices or meditation before this event? How have your lives changed since? Have you also continued with psychedelics after that, and if so, with what effect?

@Demeter , thanks for reading.  We both took around 100mcg of lsd and 200mg of mdma, so nothing major. Neither of us had tried tantric practices before but we both had some meditation experience prior to the event. There's a lot to say about how our lives have changed since, but I'd say that the main thing is that we've been imbued with a newfound sense of wonder in the world. Yin hasn't done anything, but I've been for three back to back ayahuasca ceremonies since, and during two of those experiences I entered into a similar kind of state, so can't be certain, but it seems as though I may have easier access to it now.

I can still vividly remember the feeling of Love when I took mdma with a girl in the club a half years ago. The warm, blissful and godlike feeling of love and the insight that I got still trigger my heart deeply whenever I recall it nowadays.
And I also experienced the similar feeling when dropping lsd. well, I think its all about the intension. 
However, I haven’t gotten any breakthrough experience yet. Maybe I’ll try candyflipping too in the future.

You didn't see God, and that wasn't like the Adam and Eve story. Adam and Eve decided together that they wanted to be gods, which went against God's plan for them. Jesus, i think, represented the fulfillment of God's plan for humanity, by bringing the Divine Love to earth.

It must have been an incredible experience though and brought you very close together.

There's an interesting thing about beating the game though. There might be truth to that. It depends what our role on earth is.

I'm sure if you had gone down the conveyor belt it would have just been an intense trip. You would have learnt about death and the other side. I can't imagine that you would likely literally die.

Perhaps, for now, investigate what is on the other side of death.

Glad to hear it. Actually I was given an inkling during my ayahuasca ceremonies, which I mentioned in my reply to @Demeter, that there's an unlimited amount of progression that can still be made. It's one of the reasons I decided to join this forum.. anything you'd recommend I read at this point?

Haha, well I omitted a few things from the story, we were in that state for 8 hours after all. But yes, can confirm that we did this.

Dropped the mdma after we got adjusted to the lsd, so about 2 hours in.

Some things are better kept private... But definitely recommend it if you ever get the chance.

The question that I’ve been meaning to ask though, is whether anyone else has had, or knows of instances of people having joint awakening experiences with their partners? Very curious if there are others out there.
