Investing in Stocks a good Idea?

Since the capitalist system assumes infinite growth its a matter of time until this collapses. The question is when? Is it still a good idea to invest into indexes like S&P 500? ive considered getting in since the covid situation because the market is down.

I think the market/world is in highly volatile times. Like unprecedented. Just consider that added risk when investing.
