Which meditation technique is better for increasing states of consciousness?

Mindfulness Meditation or Do nothing?

As far as manual meditation techniques go, which technique is better for increasing states of consciousness in terms of potency? Which technique is better in the long run?

Also if anybody asks why I didn't list concentration as a technique it's because I already have a separate concentration practice.

I personally alternate between do nothing and The Mind Illuminated which is basically concentration meditation.

Ive found do nothing to be surprisingly powerful once there’s a foundation of metacognitive awareness, in other words a high level of awareness of mind activity.

The surrendering component of do nothing is extremely powerful as this is a gateway to the Self, to Truth but concentration from TMI is important as this trains the mind to stop its insane level of activity which we’ve been programmed and conditioned with from our upbringing in western society.

If you feel like do nothing only results in an uncomfortable amount of monkey mind, either surrender to that or train the mind with concentration before returning. I think in the long run surrender and concentration merge into what we might call Being. As in Being has both a quality of surrender and concentration.

I've tried many different forms.  Kriya yoga is the strongest

Do nothing is the same thing as mindfulness just without the noting method, where you label your thoughts and feelings so make them fall away faster .   Neither one is for  increasing states of consciousness. They are for clarity.
Concentration meditation is more conducive to rapture and tranquil states, not for clarity  but might be more "increasing" of a state although I don't think that is the proper word.
