Is the self really enough?

4 posts in this topic

Leo said you can give yourself what you want from others but is this really true? Last year I have been acting introvert and it had its good effects and bad effects. I found this base inner joy but it is nowhere near the joy I get when I share with other people. I feel like isolating yourself has bad effects for your health too. I'm not sure about my premise though. I have a lot of negative karma / negative energy stored up.

The intention for seeking social interaction with family and friends is important too. Really enjoy those when I'm in the present and have good vibes and energy flowing through me. I do sense a lot of neediness for attention and approval though. I'm in the process of healing this with various meditation techniques.

I don't know how to progress. I don't want to be stuck in this healing process forever. I see other people who don't have this need for attention and approval from others and I'm not there. Is it just hardwired or can one really let go of it?

When God was creating the world, he could have given HIMSELF EVERYTHING ALL AT ONCE.

But, that seemed unwise.

Instead, he chose to create A SELF and OTHERS. The OTHERS would give the SELF everything he needed until the SELF becomes FULFILLED. That seemed wise.

As long as THE SELF needs OTHERS, there will always be OTHERS to fulfill HIM.

@StarStruck different people have different needs for socialisation, some can get by with a little, others need people more so.

Its not just the ego’s need, there is a deep survival need to commune with others. Ultimately, if you feel like you need to see people, why deny yourself that need? On the other hand, if you feel like you need space and time to yourself, by all needs, seek that.

The Self is enough. But, the Body/ Mind still have needs, which are unique to your situation.

As @Spaceofawareness said people's social tendencies vary, for me I'm extremely social as I'm an Enneagram 7 and just LOVE socializing and being around people.

Sure, there's times when you're a hardcore seeker, focusing on a big project/ goals etc where you may socialize less, but spirituality doesn't mean you can't socialize, all it means is you no longer seek happiness outside of yourself, life then simply becomes a celebration and expression of the happiness, love and understanding. Meaning, you can go socialize as much as you want!

The difference, is you can be happy without it, but if you want to go and socialize, more than do it, it's your life not anyone else's always remember that!
