What Do You Recommend For Those That Want To Start Their Life Over?

7 posts in this topic

Lately I have been feeling like I'm stuck in the past while I'm trying to move forward towards a new life. It feels like there are so many old dogmas within me that even I myself don't know what they are at times. Of course I do have limiting beliefs and it's not so easy to break them all within a day. For those that have created and constructed a completely new set of personality and life, what do you recommend? Right now I'm just reading books about becoming a newer person and going to a job interview here and there but nothing solid right now. Any advice?

You want to restart your life? How about you re-create your reality first? Despite tremendous flaws in the method, there is a certain power residing in the 'law of attraction'. Yes, it's largely bullshit but hidden within the bullshit is a nugget of gold which, after a shit ton of personal dev/ research and contemplation, I managed to comprehend recently

Creating your reality.

Before we delve into what this means we need to understand some 'good news and bad news'.

Bad news: the labels and associations you attributed to everything you know are meaningless bullshit.

Beyond incredible news: Because that's true, you can literally create reality however you want it in your mind. Not in the I'm-Superman-fuck-you-gravity kind of way. You cannot bend the nature of the universe with just your will/ thoughts. But you can do something that is arguably, even better. You can create your reality. Let me explain.

Your thoughts create reality because everything you see is interpereted by you and given a certain meaning. Without that action by your self there is no 'personal' reality (whichis the only reality that will ever matter to you unless you pursue enlightenment ). Do you understand what this means? You are already creating your own reality but you aren't taking charge of it! Do yourself the biggest favor of a lifetime and take charge of the the way you create your reality: your thoughts and intention are sacred. Carefully choose the ones you want in your head and discard the rest. Don't be neurotic about this. We cannot control your thoughts(I mean, technically you don't even think them). You cannot stop a thought. Please do not try to. However, thoughts can be given power and life through our own choice and that is what we absolutely must master. Feed the useful/ empowering thoughts. Starve the disempowering/limiting/bullshit thoughts.

I'll tell you how to do this. It's your focus. The thoughts you are focusing on become your reality. Thoughts are fed primarily by your focus. Any exercise to shift your reality(visualizations, affiramations etc) all center around manipulating your focus so that it is trained on the best thoughts you have. Make this into a consistent mental pattern. It's very difficult. It's a radically different way of going through your daily life then probably anything you've done up to this point. But if you practice it seriously, it will rock your world and upend your reality. And that'll only be in the first week.

What this can do for you:

Limiting beliefs dramatically weakened

Self-esteem improved

Awareness improved

Resistance to moving towards self-actualization dramatically weakened

Ability to not get caught in the traps/bullshit of others who aren't helping you vastly improved

Feel like reality is magical/ beautiful again.

If you're sincere, try this. The capacity of this to change lives is absurdly overpowered. I cannot overstate this. I myself use it and thousands of successful people use it in some way or the other in a powerful way to great effect. If you let it slip and don't give it a proper shot you'll only be chasing shadows when the object casting the shadow is already in your hands. Change your reality to change your life.

@Yukise99

Awaken to the truth of who you are first.  And then spend time contemplating your beliefs, where they came from, if they make sense, are they serving you, do you want them?

Books can be helpful, but ultimately they get in the way because all we do with that information is put another layer of programming on top of the old unexamined programming, thus further complicating life.

If I were to change my life I would:

Start by building the habit that serves me the most - meditation.

Then, I would find my life purpose and get involved with relationships and dating. In this area, I would focus on taking lots of action and creating a big picture model of how it works and also craft a vision of what my ideal relationship.

Also, I would try to start different habits that allow me to realize my life purpose:

That is a good starting point...

@Yukise99 Aaaah, the rite of passage : Taking 100% Responsibility for your Entire Life !

Looking back over my Personal Development journey, I feel like I have to say that before and after that moment is like night and day. My life radically transformed in a tiny amount of time. It was really cool.

But - and that's a big but - it was filled with tons of emotional labor...

Anyway, one thing you need to understand is that nobody can tell you what your next step is. We can only give you a compass to help you figure what you want to do next. So, here's what I'm going to do : I'm going to give exactly what you "should" learn right now so that you fully complete this step and start moving in the "right" direction. (I put air quotes because I don't like using those words, but they capture what I'm trying to say).

So there it is : If you want to live an extraordinary life, you have to become an extraordinary person.

I've found that our perception of reality, (our thought processes, our emotional patterns, our behavioral patterns), is not controlled by us. It's entirely made up by our psychology. Which means that personal development is really only about moving away from limiting psychology and into empowering psychology.

If you want to live an extraordinary life, you're gonna need to adopt the psychology that comes with. The mindsets, the perspectives, the abilities, all this kind of stuff...

Another point I'd like to clear out is that changing your psychology isn't easy. You need to put yourself through a trans-formative experience to change psychologies. This is why Leo likes to give us exercises with some of his videos. But you need to come up with your own as well. And you need to implement !!!!! Sounds obvious but a lot of people don't do that !!

Here's an action step for you : Watch this video from Leo and do the exercise. This'll help. And btw, what @J. M. Wigglesworth, @Mal, and @Christian have proposed are all valid suggestions, but choose your own.
