Difficulty breathing during Kryja practises

1 post in this topic

Hi,

I have been doing Kriya Yoga practise consisting of Nadi Sodhana Pranayama (6 rounds), Ujjayi Pranayama (6 rounds), Talabya Kriya (20 times) and First Kriya Pranayama (12 times) following the instructions from Stevens's "Kriya Secrets Revealed" for few months (with breaks) and every time I feel that it is hard for me to breath fully, I feel intensive chest pain as if I was blocked and couldn't take in oxygen fully. I have a feeling I am going to suffocate cause those breaths are so long and I have difficulties with waiting for another breath without any oxygen in my body. After each long breath (especially during Kriya Pranayama) I have an urge to breath very quickly and shallowly.

Do you guys experience something familiar or do you have rather pleasant experience with Kriya? Did you experience sth similar at the beginning of your practise and then you learned to breath deeply?

Does it mean I have some medical problem with breath or emotional blockages? Can it be that I am not yet ready for Kriya practise and shouldn't do that? Is it safe in my case to continue the practise?
