What will life look like after the dust settles?

Return to normalcy from COVID lockdowns   10 members have voted

  1. 1. Do you think we will return to normal from the COVID shutdowns?

    • Yes, it's just a matter of flattening the curve and stopping the virus.
      1
    • Yes, if we do everything right for a long time. Once we flatten the curve, there will be economic and systemic repurcussions. Building up again will take years.
      7
    • No. This is our new normal and we will never go back to how it was.

I'd like to know your opinions on what happens after the lockdowns, that is if the lockdowns end. Will we have 'normal life' ever again?

@Parththakkar12

I live in Berlin and things are getting back to normal here, pretty much.  Lockdown began to ease over 7 weeks ago  with places opening gradually.
clubs still remain closed.
you have to wear a mask to go inside shops.
disinfection of hands when entering a place etc.

Everything is open with a few rules here and there like no standing around/dancing inside bars/restaurants, you must be seated.

people who can work from home are mostly still doing so where possible and that could remain that way - companies are realising that work can be done from home, so its better for them if they don’t have to pay rent costs for the office.

But when you are outside it’s like corona never happened, everyone is out now that it’s getting hot again.  I suppose there is no tourists, but I think that will change now the borders have opened up in the Schengen zone.

I think wearing masks will gradually stop over the summer and come back again in the winter.
Berlin has zero air con so wearing a mask when it’s hot is unbearable and hard to breathe.  Also, it’s looking like the virus hasn’t spiked much since easing restrictions, and there was a protest of 15,000 people last weekend (everyone wearing masks) , so let’s see!

It depends on the location

If the United States,  this disease is going to recede at some point . I picked answer 2)
but this may vary greatly depending on the particular location and if there is a second wave in the fall/winter .
The Floyd protests are showing a new dynamic, the power of mass civil disobedience on a national scale.
And in Hong Kong
That can also vary greatly  as to positive vs negative effects.
It is highly unpredictable and unforeseen other events can occur.
For instance during these protest the attention was shifted off of COVID
but now it's rising in many U.S. states and in India and Brazil, many places.
but it won't go on forever. It's a lesson

I think some people will change. I follow Dave Ramsey who beats to death a emergency fund. Not running to the government to save me + takeaway my freedoms. I think that it will change some people in dating. I notices men and women responded very differently. I think most of the world was caught with their pants down. I think after, people are back living in blissful ignorance, and yolo. Others are going to be prepared.

Covid is nothing compared to bio weapon or how bad things could have been. It shows how poorly prepared our leaders, government, community, and myself was. I didn't have months of foods, a series of guns, ammunition, and a plan to assimilate a tribe if shit went bad. I will prepare for the future. I hope others will to.
