My first meditation experience : How it feels like and what changed

1 post in this topic

I started meditating using Sam Harris waking up course.  Before it got to the good stuff, he started really heavy.  That not how you meditate as a beginner ,controlling your breathing, that takes skill and perhaps years of practice.  His tips are very random...  It doesnt have a beginning or an end.  Still, i pieced together what i needed to start for myself and what i really learned is that meditation requires only 5 minutes of your time ,to listen to yourself and at least try to plan your next move in an organized fashion.  Instead of trying to hear your breath on a whim, try remembering your shopping list : A loaf of bread, a stick of butter, a gallon of milk.  Hear yourself, do not forget, while paying attention to the road.  Now where in the world, could you find bread in a super market?  Here is how you meditate :

- Im not gonna find bread at the meat hall ( as silly as it may sound but try to remember where the meat is ,just in case

- Im not gonna find bread, at the milk shaft, but i could find butter there or very nearby

- Can i find bread at the pastry ? Yes!  This is how you begin meditating.  How do you do it?
