Forgetting about stuff 2 weeks ago

8 posts in this topic

I read some books, watch some videos and then I look back at some of the videos I did 2 weeks back and I realise I don't really remember most of the minor details.

Like I cannot even remember the book chapters name or even a single sentence that I read 2 weeks ago. What can i do to link back fast?

For example, 2 weeks ago, I read The Subtle Art of Not giving a f but I don't remember anything much about the book now. Or can't remember a single chapter's name.

Why care about chapter name or some sentence? It's just words. What matters is concepts that can create value for you, you should look for and remember these in abstract, not entire book or specific wording, lol. It's much more about your own understanding and personally deriving the value out for yourself rather than mere spending time with a book reading it from cover to cover, this is a useless activity, lol.

Ok forget about chapter name. But I also wrote some stuff about 2-3 weeks ago.

But when I looked back at it, I could barely remember the content in my brain until I read the words over again.

Why is my brain so bad at recalling stuff? I mean to say if I didn't write it down, I would have totally forgotten what I read 2-3 weeks ago.

@hyruga I totally agree with @Hello from Russia you need to underline the things or make notes of the critical concepts which you can apply in your life with respect to self actualisation.

Apart from that one great technique to remember things is repeatation. Learn in the night repeat in the morning, revise at the end of a week. The more you repeat the more it stays in your memory.

Also writing down stuff can help you increase your memory, one very important tip is once you write something without looking it means it is stored in your mind somewhere.

Another way to increase your memory is through accupunture.

Of course yoga, meditation and exercise, and diet can help a lot with memory..

All the best

When you start to forget the past, you are starting to become more present.

When you became The Present, you will have no past. :)

I feel you in that. Might be some physiological issue (Diet, health, stress levels, exercise, etc). Or you might be just too overwhelmed and put too much information into your head without processing it very much.

What I found works best for learning is conscious processing of information, i.e., thinking about the truth of the matter, seeing deeply and structurally how it works, how it sets in in other systems\models that are around it and ultimately how it influences your own life and the way your approach things that are related to this topic. Sort of looking at things both objectively for what it is and how it works and more how it fits into your life, a.k.a. what it means\does for you.

This is what I found works best. And repetition is great too, if you really need to entrench the details into your mind
