High Consciousness Hobbies

38 posts in this topic

During this quarantine, I have been trying to find new high consciousness hobbies and habits to start practising. Does anyone have hobbies that you enjoy? I'm just looking for ideas of things to start doing besides the normal Self-Actualization stuff (Meditating, Journaling, Reading, Contemplating, etc.) I'm open to any new ideas!

My new high consciousness hobby during this quarantine has been visualization exercises. Did a couple of them. Immensely helpful.

I like to draw and look for different ways to express my emotions over writing. I've started a public journal here. I've also installed a mindmap on my computer for mapping out my thoughts and beliefs. I like and still do journal in my notebook but it's a bit boring so I'm looking for other ways to explore and release emotions.

I'm familiarizing myself with a few of the native plant species in my area (Eastern Missouri). I also planted a few pepper and tomato plants and am finding great joy in helping them grow. It's different than just the standard gardening process of like following a 5-step to do list. I call it conscious gardening where you get a sense for how the plants navigate their environment and "feel" their surroundings. Way better than just gardening for efficiency and high yield.

You can do regular hobbies with a high consciousness. Be creative!

Or you could start coaching, teaching, volunteering etc.

There are no high consciousness hobbies. It's not about the hobby, it's about how you do it. Do the thing that you love most doing, and it'll be the most consciousness/you raising for you

@Waken This is by far the best answer on the thread.

@Insightful27 Literally, do whatever you love, whether that's arts, sports, watching movies, reading, love is meant to be enjoyed remember :)

You don't have to force things to be 'high consciousness'

Francis Lucille plays a lot of tennis.

Rupert Spira goes to Manchester United games.

Eckhart Tolle enjoys a glass of red wine.

You get my point.

'One is always in the absolute state, knowingly or unknowingly for that is all there is.' Francis Lucille.

'Peace and Happiness are inherent in Consciousness.' Rupert Spira

You shouldn't inhibit yourself hobby-wise. Do what you feel like doing. Of course I'm not talking about a porn bender and watching TV shows for 10 hours straight.

Personally, I quite like playing Overwatch, so if I have some spare time, I play a few matches. I try to be as mindful as possible while playing. It's much more fun that way.

@Lyubov I write my thoughts out in OpenOffice like I would in a normal notebook. You obviously have better ways of mapping out your thoughts, but I feel simplicity is the best way. Also having something private just for yourself that you don't share with people on actualized can be helpful. Because you might not want everyone to know about intimate stuff that you might feel like writing about.

@Insightful27 I would say reading, writing and making art. You already mentioned reading. I also recommend reading other stuff than just self development. Goodreads is a good website to choose the things you like. :) People review the books so you know what you might get if you buy them. And there are reader communities.

Maybe invest in a Kindle if you haven't yet and become a frequent reader of all sorts of stuff. Knowledge is very one-sided if you only look at the world through the lens of self-development. I remember Leo had an episode where he also mentioned reading history, philosophy, literature (althogh he wasn't a big fan of it), and other topics like those. You will need them if you want to become wise in life. Some literature is more healing than any self help book, especially classics.

Also, research youtube in other languages. most likely you are suck in the recomendations in your own language. Translate something you want to look into into russian, german, spanish, french etc and follow the rabbit hole. Quite eye opening. for chinese you may need VPN xD
