I just had an insight that isn't very fun to admit. I don't WANT enlightenment/liberation/awakening to be easy and effortless. I want it to be an attainment.

Therefore my mind engages in all kinds of comparing myself to others on the path and guessing about teachers, reacting to them. 

Therefore I make the path difficult, and a future accomplishment... for myself.
