About Social Media Management

3 posts in this topic

I have a question about social media management. I am working with another guy on creating websites and we want to add social media services, but no one of us have any idea about how much to charge, what are the different and more common options or packages offered. Is there any site where I can check some ideas or references?

I am googleing it but I thought maybe you guys know of some services offered where I can check to offer those services with our company.

Thanks!!!

@abrakamowse

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but I'll take a stab at trying to help you. I think this will give you a rough estimate. I used to be a professional researcher at a recruiting company back in the day.... If I had more information on what exactly you were looking for "details wise" it would help.

How Much Does Marketing With Twitter Cost?
Launching a new Twitter account, complete with setup and outsourcing content creation/consumer interaction (all 140 characters at a time), costs an average of $2,000-$4,000 per month – and that’s just for Twitter. With that said, the total price range was $1,000-$7,500 per month.

What if you already have an existing Twitter account, but need some help to take it to the next level? Restructuring an existing Twitter account with “limited coaching” to achieve client goals is still going to cost you between $1,000-$2,500 per month, with some charging as much as $4,000 per month…just for Twitter! That’s right, if you want Facebook, you’re paying extra.

How Much Does Marketing With Facebook Cost?

If you thought the costs of marketing with Twitter were high, you might want to grab your fainting chair — Facebook marketing rates will give you a case of the vapors. To set up a new Facebook account and provide limited ongoing training to business partners, online PR agencies charge an average of $2,500-$5,000 per month, with some going as high as $9,000. Of course, this also includes status updates and interacting with customers. You know what it doesn’t include, though? Strategy.

If you’re shelling out a minimum of $4,500 per month for Facebook and Twitter management, you’re not getting any strategy behind the efforts. That costs extra (sort of like adding bacon, but not as tasty). Now, we’ll admit that the strategy is the most important part — you’ve got to go into social media marketing with a game plan and a list of goals, or you’ll never really get anywhere. This is the reason you don’t want to outsource your company’s social media management to your friend’s kid who is taking a class in marketing at college. Online PR agencies know this, so they make sure to charge you for their expertise. You know, in case they’re not getting enough of your money already.

There is more at the link I've provided above.  It also answers these questions.

If I was in your situation and I still couldn't find anything I would call these companies up and ask them, like as if you were a customer interested in buying their products!  You can just say you're doing an inquiry and would like to find out more information, and you're not sure what you're doing yet.  If you have to create another email account just specifically for researching this if you want to stay anonymous.  And if you're really shy get a cheap ass cell phone that you can buy at Walmart that has prepaid minutes on it  and call them.  Then create a log of your questions and answers you want to ask these companies and put it in an Microsoft Excell Spreadsheet, so you can compare and contrast and see what other people are charging.  By doing so you can create a niche for your market, and answer the question on "What makes our company stand out from the others"?

I think these companies purposely are not listing the prices because it's catered toward your specific needs.  They want to draw in the caller to make the sale.

Thanks a lot @Carrie  I appreciate a lot your help. I will read the article and if I have more questions I will post them here.

What you are telling me is what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure. I have a  customer that I am making some designs too and he was asking me about if I provided services for social media, he has a Facebook page and he told me that someone was making it for him and he was charging him U$S 300 (not sure if weekly or monthly) and he asked me because he thought it was expensive, probably expecting me to give him a lower price hehehehe...

With all these info you gave me I will talk to him and see what happens, but I am not obviously going to do it for the kind of money he's thinking.

Anyway, doing a budget calculation for a person taking care of the facebook page and the content the money that he's thinking is really not enough, but I wanted to be sure.

Thanks a lot, and probably I will be calling some companies as a "customer" to have a better idea.

Thanks so much again!
