Posted July 8, 2016 (edited) Hi ! I'm pondering about making money by playing poker. It's hard but doable. But there's another consideration: everything I earn, I directly take away from other people. Not the popular formula "win-win", but older style "win-loose". I could think that I give them some good emotions in return, but considering the comments they make when losing, it's not the case. Posted July 9, 2016 I think you should post on an online poker forum and ask them for a reality check on making money by playing poker. The ethics of it is debatable but what's important is are you willing to stick with it till the end? How much do you want to earn? Most poker forum recommends beginner to grind it out in the penny games to better their skills before they start betting $1-$5 (you can only bet one penny) and even then I'm not sure if they still have those types of games anymore. How legal is online gambling in your area? Some states in the U.S it's illegal to gamble online even though there is no federal law on online gambling. Playing poker is far from fast fix on acquiring capital as I saw your other post about acquiring capitals. Check out Leo's video on how to get results that might help you. Aren't they offering the money of their own will- the price of playing, is it not?Consider professional fighters/athletes. Are they 'taking' from another or are they competing. These kinds of games are engineered for one winner and they take the cake. If you want to make it "high-consciousness" then focus on developing mastery in it like pro athletes do and less on how your opponents feel. Also, if what @Yukise99 said is true(about you needing capital), then I insist you try your hand at something else. Professional gambling requires an initially high capital to pad the losses before the statistics kick in and you get your cash. Also it tends to put you in a fairly frenetic area(casinos) around vice(smoke is the air and booze is water) and low consciousness people(blowing money around to get dopamine hits). This may impede your self-actualization if the tables become your workplace.
Posted July 9, 2016 i played poker for living 3-4 years. It has been 6 years, since i quit / went hobby mode, i dont play much at all anymore. I dont think it is unethical, everybody is there on their own agreement and they know the rules of the game. It is like sports, winners gets paid. For me, i loved the game for anout 2 years, after that i played only for the money and the results started to go down.
Posted July 9, 2016 (edited) @Richard Alpert @J. M. Wigglesworth thanks for sharing your perspective ! Yes, it's like all competitive sports, if you feel guilty about loser, then better do not play at all. Seems like guilt has deep roots in me, one more area to clear out. As for my plans, they don't include making poker my only or even main source of income. I can allow myself to play safe and small, just at the skill level where I can be consistent winner and advance slowly. I played 1.5 years, starting with freerolls, bet when I started to earn some money I quit. I'm not really sure why. Now I'm considering if to play again. I play online, so no negative casino side effects. Edited July 9, 2016 by Time Traveler

I have probably played couple of million hands online. I dont see the poker skills being much useful in real life. You might want to reconsider what you want to master. If it is poker, then go for it. But i would suggest to reconsider it.

Posted July 12, 2018 (edited) I constantly make money playing casino games. So I know quite a lot about it. I tried to play both online poker and betting, but it was money I earned with the online casino. Most of all I received at paddypowercasino 500 dollars per day. It turned out pretty not bad. Posted July 12, 2018 (edited) there's nothing wrong with that. those who enter a poker game should be ready to lose it all. it's an agreement. you're not taking money from anyone without their consent. but i want to leave you with these questions: does playing poker give you the feeling of being a contributor to mankind? what are your mental efforts being used for other than making some money? can you reach a higher vision for your Life? Posted July 14, 2018 Poker is a game for fun and entertainment which can increase your logical, mathematical skill and brain power. I like to play it only for enjoyment, not for money.
