I read a book about Pornography, it left me thinking: Why it's even legal?

@freeman194673 I apologise I assumed you were coming merely from a scientific place; It's just the theme of materialistic people that I know of.

But you're still equating cocaine with porn like that's been proven. And you're definitely misinterpreting the scientific evidence you've presented. Correlation does not equal causation. That's a basic trap that lots of materialists fall into (partly why I assumed you were a materialist). You can draw whatever conclusions you want from the correlations, but they won't be anywhere near accurate.

The reason I don't buy into this is because my experience says otherwise. Call it my bias or whatever, but everyone is responsible for themselves. And like Leo said, if you can't handle porn, that's your problem.

Hahahahahahaah I'm sorry but I find this actually hilarious, "no way of releasing their sexual energy" - how about masturbation without watching pornography?! Y'all are so lazy, too lazy to use your MIND to create the images and scenarios you wish to see... And too addicted to realise that sexual release is possible without porn haha

I'm not anti-porn, I watched a video last night... But I prefer to not need to use something external to 'get me in the mood'.

DON'T BE LAZY

Masturbation without any imagination at all. Now that's where the magic happens ;)

I never blamed it on anyone else.

okay but are you willing to go 30 days porn free and see how would life would change?

I went on both poles of porn<->porn free spectrum and I can tell you that there might be a difference for you too.

Probably we should end it here,What I want to conclude is this: try 30 days pornfree and see for yourself.

okay mate?

I can show you 100000 articles and studies but it won't change anything because you're not open to this posibility that I present to you.

So try for yourself,30 days.

Raw experience is kind,as Leo would say.

Let me know what you think.

Back in 1986 or so the U.S. Dept of Justice had a commission on pornography and released a report. This research or report was quite extensive and I read the entire thing since I was a DOJ employee and worked for a federal prosecutor at that time. I was quite shocked at how pornography was tied to the background of so much violent crime. After reading the entire Dept of Justice official report, I never again viewed pornography as something unharmful. The New York Times released an article with the headline: JUSTICE DEPT. PORNOGRAPHY STUDY FINDS MATERIAL IS TIED TO VIOLENCE. A tiny blub about it is here - https://www.nytimes.com/1986/05/14/us/justice-dept-pornography-study-finds-material-is-tied-to-violence.html
The actual Dept. of Justice report was hundreds of pages and quite extensive and included statistics and details on federal cases.

The DOJ commission on pornography was dismantled in 2011, but the DOJ's legal attention remains on child pornography. But other than that, of course it will never be made illegal.

Anti-pornography interests want to push the DOJ to enforce existing federal obscenity laws - https://endsexualexploitation.org/doj/. But the DOJ is far more interested in frying much bigger fish or political interests. No crackdown of any sort will ever happen other than child pornography.

Other research is compiled here for those interested - https://pornharmsresearch.com/

------------------------------------------------------------

If one has a desire to raise their consciousnesses and move towards enlightenment aggressively, pornography will not assist that process. Neither does crappy food, but fast food and junk food is easy and convenient to consume so most of us fall into the bad food trap. But pornography calibrates quite low (100) on the consciousness scale so that is quite a bit of gravity downward into lower consciousness and the addictive quality can make it much harder to go back up the calibration scale towards enlightenment if consumed too much.

David R. Hawkins has done quite a bit of research in the area of consciousness calibrations which is quite fascinating.

David-Hawkins-LoC-TvF.pdf

Really a lot of solid information here that I had posted.

We're all in this together. If one has been harmed, why not open the heart with compassion and help rather than leaving them in the ditch to struggle.

Lower consciousness activities can make one spiral down into harm and suffering. Some are more susceptible for whatever reason, but for those, why not offer understanding and compassion rather than leaving a brother in the trap.

So in an attempt to offer compassion @freeman194673 - I was reading this - https://oceanrecoverycentre.com/2016/07/the-ultimate-guide-to-overcoming-internet-porn-addiction/

Fascinating comparison of spiral dynamics and Dr. David R. Hawkins Map of Consciousness.

See, I actually hopped on the porn-is-evil-no-fap-train years ago. It induced lots of guilt and shit everytime I was horny and jerked off, with our without porn.

Recently, I did just what you suggest. I went 45 days porn-free and limited masturbation to once a week for the first four weeks. Truth be told, it was quite difficult at times. My results might surprise you though, because there weren't any. Apart from increased horniness, which, if anything, was really annoying. That was quite a realization actually, because I had heard all the tales of superpowers and shit for years. No increased willpower, no increased confidence, same level of brainfog (diet has a much bigger effect on that (for me))...

I went back to yourbrainonporn and re-read some of the studies and articles. I noticed that they were always talking about "problematic porn users", so I took a closer look at what that includes. Long story short: I ain't one. My taste hasn't morphed much, I'm still into pretty girls with nice bodies, I've always liked blowjobs, I'm still turned off by abusive scenes. Which is probably why I also didn't get any benefit from quitting.

So I decided to stop giving a fuck. Since I've arrived at this through direct experience, my guilt has dropped away. I now have times where I watch porn daily, sometimes I masturbate without it, sometimes I don't masturbate at all. A week ago or so, I had a date scheduled with a girl that I expected might lead to sex. So I stopped PMO for more than a week without any struggle. I had a good reason, because it's obviously easier to show desire when you're horny.

That removal of guilt has done more for me than any streak of no-fap has ever even come close to.

@Enizeo  Perfect example of testing and working out what is right for you, well done!

Communities like No-Fap think there is one solution for everyone, it just isn't the case. For many, they almost need No-Fap as Porn becomes like a drug for them, just like an alcoholic can't drink Alcohol, whereas, the majority of people can without then thinking about it everyday.

You also have to remember most of these communities are Green at best, so haven't ventured into Yellow and realized solutions aren't so one size fits all, but complex and nuanced for each individual.

I will say, at the least No-Fap opened me up to how toxic the Porn industry can be, both to workers, and, similar to the gambling industry, getting addicts even more hooked, OnlyFans is the perfect example of this. $10-20 a month to sign up to a girls OnlyFans, so imagine someone is signed up to like 4-5 on an average salary, soon adds up!

@Leo Gura

I wasn't talking about spirituality. I don't hold any religious dogma

What about all the studies made which prove how detrimental porn is over one's mental health?

These 75 studies let's say: https://www.yourbrainonporn.com/relevant-research-and-articles-about-the-studies/porn-use-sex-addiction-studies/studies-linking-porn-use-to-poorer-mental-emotional-health-poorer-cognitive-outcomes/

Do they affect most people and you're immune to it somehow?

You don’t understand the fact that you imagine your own reality.

Someone mentioned porn gave him a bad feeling afterwards like McDonalds. That’s not the porn, that’s the subconscious negative associating self inflicting shame and regret to course correct behavior for optimal future survival.

Imagine a different society wherein for their entire lives, sex was demonized as unhealthy and for losers, and porn was glorified as healthy and for winners.

I suspect the post - act effects would be completely reversed.

@LfcCharlie4 Nofap is okay.

If you are addicted to porn, the solution to get rid of it is to stop consuming.

And to rewire your brain.

And nofap helps you with that,it brings resources and it can provide an accountable partner.

Of course that it won't fix your whole life, but it can help you with your porn addiction.

Look at r/pornfree pinned posts, they help you with nutrition ,exercises, affirmations and people ask for all sorts of advices to repair their broken life after this addiction.

as I said, solutions are one sized.

You're addicted to porn, you stop consuming and you will heal yourself.

You have to do some contemplation to figure out why you are addicted so hard and see what you can do to change.

As someone else said, addiction are powerfull when life sucks.

And life sucks more the more addicted you are and so on.

But r/nofap and r/noporn are okay.

@freeman194673 I know, I meant a one size fits all for everyone in the world.

If you are addicted seek help and quit and change your life, I 100% sgree, but not everybody who uses porn is addicted, like not everyone who drinks alcohol is, that’s my point.

I personally am quitting porn as it has no real benefit for me in life, and I would rather use that energy 1) in my work and exercise and 2) In real life, with real humans, not pixels on a screen.

Each to their own though.
